Life gets busy, what with full-time jobs (that you can’t seem to escape thanks to technology), busy kid schedules with camp, swimming lessons, graduation parties and all the other things that must be done each day.

The list adds up. You need an escape.

But who has time for an exciting, full family vacation; one that hits all the summer notes? Thanks to the new Sunday Funday Family BBQ coming up July 20 at Mount Sunapee Resort (https://www.mountsunapee.com/) in New Hampshire, we all do.

This newly conceived one-day event uses the entire mountain to create a full landscape of family fun, from lift rides to axe throwing and more. It’s a more than a day visit — it’s a full-on mini vacation, and one that will keep the entire family off their screens all day, except for taking family selfies.

Sunapee is a beloved mountain for skiing. With its easy access — it’s a less than two hour drive from Boston proper and on an easy route — it has more than its share of ski season loyalists.

But those in the know realize it’s a magnificent spot come summer as well. The 2.743-ft. vertical peak overlooks beautiful Lake Sunapee and its lush green forest sets you in the middle of nature, the bases and peak buildings offer comfort in that tree-thick oasis as well.

But it’s not just about location. Mount Sunapee, which has hosted many smaller scale summer events over the years, has set up a day that has more than just something for everyone; it may just have everything a good vacation gives.

“We put this event together with one goal in mind, bring families together for a full day of fun at Mount Sunapee,” said Food and Beverage General Manager Connor O’Neil.

“This year we wanted to reimagine the Family BBQ and create an event around it that brings families together for a full day of fun at Mount Sunapee. This year, it became an event that included the entire mountain from the Adventure Center activities, to the Summit Lodge,” he said.

The all-day event features traditional as well as trendy vacation fun. There’s axe throwing for the adults, a tie-dye station to create your vacation souvenir, bounce houses and all kinds of lawn games for all ages.

You can ride lifts to the summit and back down, taking time to meander at the peak, or hike up and ride down. There’s also the resort’s Adventure Park where you can challenge yourself going tree-to-tree in an exciting challenge course. Tickets for that section are half price for event guests that day.

The day is filled with food and music as well. Leaning hard into local fare and summer classics, you’ll nosh on pulled beef brisket, BBQ chicken, sausage, brats, burgers and hotdogs and

of course the sides that make it a summer feast: corn on the cob, garden salad, potato salad and mac and cheese.

You can top it off with fresh, locally sourced strawberry shortcake. The best part: You need not cook or clean up.

Music will fill the air all day as well. From noon to 3 p.m. live entertainment comes from the Toyota Music Den, a converted Airstream stage that will host local musicians, Then from 2-4 p.m. the live music moves uphill to the resort’s Summit Lodge where you can take in the tunes and the view.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. which means you don’t even need to drag the kids to the car at the crack of dawn to experience it all, and your ride home will be a breeze.

Tickets for the day, which include food, music, lift rides and access to all games, are $85 for adults and $40 for kids 12 and under.

Fresh air, fun games, exciting lift rides, live music and a local sourced BBQ prepared just for you. It’s a full on vacation all in one day.

Busy schedule, take that. You too can find an escape.
