National television networks continue to love the Colorado football team as Deion Sanders enters his third season as the Buffaloes’ head coach.
On Thursday, kickoff times and TV selections for three of CU’s games in the 2025 season were announced, with all of them on national TV.
The Buffs’ game against Delaware on Sept. 6 at Folsom Field is slated for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on Fox.
Six days later, the Buffs will hit the road for the first time with a trip to Houston for the Big 12 Conference opener. That game has been set for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
In Week 5, the Buffs will host BYU in a rematch of the Valero Alamo Bowl on Sept. 27 at Folsom Field. That game is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.
It was previously announced that the Buffs’ season opener, Aug. 29 at Folsom Field against Georgia Tech, will have a 6 p.m. start on ESPN.
Game times and TV selections for the other eight games will be announced at a later date.
A year ago, all 13 of CU’s games were broadcast on national networks or the ESPN flagship — breaking the previous school record of eight such games, in Sanders’ first season, 2023. The most before 2023 was seven, during the Buffs’ national championship season of 1990.
The streak of national network or ESPN games will extend at least through the first three games this season, against Georgia Tech, Delaware and Houston. The Sept. 20 matchup against Wyoming is the only one of the first five games that has not been selected for a TV spot.
During Sanders’ first two seasons at CU, 22 of the Buffaloes’ 25 games were broadcast on national TV or the ESPN flagship.CU has been one of the most-watched teams in the country the past two years, largely because of Sanders, as well as stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter — who are now in the NFL. During the 2024 regular season, CU ranked sixth nationally with 46.32 million viewers, an average of 3.86 million per game (ranking 11th).
Twelve of CU’s 25 games under Sanders have drawn at least four million viewers.
The Alamo Bowl, a 36-14 BYU victory, had eight million viewers on ABC and was the most-watched non-College Football Playoff or New Year’s Six bowl game since 2020. It was the most-watched Alamo Bowl in the event’s history.
