A Pontiac man has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his 41-year-old neighbor and sexually assaulting the neighbor’s wife and daughter, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Timothy Legard, 50, allegedly met with his neighbor around 6 a.m. Wednesday outside his home on YpsilantiAvenue in Pontiac while the neighbor’s wife was helping their daughter get ready for school, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Legard allegedly stabbed his neighbor in the chest and entered his home and sexually assaulted his wife and daughter.

Police found the neighbor dead in the driveway, and arrested Legard walking nearby, according to prosecutors.

“This was an absolutely brutal and horrific attack on a family,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement. “First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, and Kidnapping are life offenses, and they are the most serious charges my office brings. We will fight vigorously for justice for this family and to protect the community from those who perpetrate violence.”

Legard was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault with the intent to commit penetration and two counts of felonious assault.

If convicted, Legand faces up to life in prison.
