The Colorado women’s lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in style.

And by doing so, the Buffaloes secured at least one more game on their home turf.

CU took care of business in the final regular season home game on Saturday, topping UC Davis 15-9 at Kittredge Field.

With the victory, the Buffs (7-7, 3-1 Big 12) moved back to .500 overall and clinched a berth in the first Big 12 Conference tournament, which will be hosted by CU. The top four teams in the six-team Big 12 qualify for the tournament, and league-leader Florida (4-0 Big 12), followed by CU and Arizona State (both 3-1) have qualified for the tournament.

The Buffs improved to 9-0 all-time against the Aggies.

CU jumped out of the gate with authority, scoring the first eight goals of the game before taking a 12-1 lead at halftime.

The Buffs dominated the action, outshooting UC Davis 43-20 with a 35-15 advantage in shots on goal. Teagan Ryan, Maddie Shoup and Madeline Pisani all posted hat tricks for the Buffs, with Pisani finishing with five goals and two assists.

It was the 19th career hat trick for Pisani, who moved to ninth in program history in points (142) and sixth in goals (109). Freshman Elena Oh started in goal for CU before giving way to senior Danielle Heintz, who recorded five saves in the second half.

“Every conference game is so huge, and we knew coming into this that we’re still trying to earn our way into the conference tournament, as only the four teams make it,” CU head coach Ann Elliott Whidden said in a release. “I’m proud of the way they came out, and we fought and put ourselves in a good position throughout today. I’m really proud of our seniors, and when they got their opportunities, just stepping up, and everyone played great and with purpose and passion for the whole time. A good win for us. We know we have to do better in the second half. That’s a trend for us, and we just have to continue to focus on the 60 minutes if we want to extend the season longer.”

Although three of the top four spots have been filled for the conference tournament, it nonetheless will be an interesting final weekend of the regular season on Saturday as Arizona State visits No. 4 Florida with first place on the line. CU finishes the regular season on Saturday at Cincinnati (10 a.m. MT, ESPN+).
