Pasadena Humane will receive a $20,000 donation from animal registration service and humane society partner DocuPet.
The donation will support sheltering, veterinary care, animal adoption, and owner assistance programs, which helped more than 40,000 animals in 2021, according to a Pasadena Humane news release.
“We are incredibly grateful to DocuPet for this generous donation,” President and CEO Dia DuVernet said in the release. “This gift will ensure that animals in our care receive safe shelter, loving care, nutritious food and a second chance at the life they deserve.”
The organization partnered with DocuPet in 2021 for online pet licensing and designer tags that help pet owners identify and reunite with their lost animals, opening up space and staff resources at the shelter.
DocuPet is offering $10 off a regularly priced designer tag for all Pasadena Humane pet owners with promo code PASADENA10 at checkout. Residents also have the option to contribute to DocuPet’s Safe and Happy Fund, which collects optional donations and was a conduit for the $20,000 donation.
Dog licensing is mandatory in cities Pasadena Humane serves — Arcadia, Bradbury, La Cañada Flintridge, Morovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena — and residents can opt for a generic license tag at no additional charge.
Pasadena Humane has operated animal medical and adoption services in the Greater Los Angeles area for over 120 years. After decades of partnership with municipalities in the area, in 2020 San Gabriel Valley cities pushed back against rising costs associated with the shelter’s contract.
