NOTES: CU is looking to extend a current two-game winning streak as it welcomes Texas Tech to Boulder for the first time since Feb. 12, 2011. … On Sunday, CU will celebrate 50 years of the program’s history. Alums from throughout the Buffs’ five decades will be on hand, and the 2002 Elite Eight team will be honored. … CU and Tech were Big 12 rivals from 1996-2011 before CU left for the Pac-12. … The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 18-5, including 7-2 in Boulder. Tech has won the past five meetings, including an 86-85 overtime victory in Lubbock, Texas, on Nov. 16, 2022. CU led by 16 at one point. … Tech forces 19.7 turnovers per game (second in the Big 12), but both teams are at the bottom of the conference in committing turnovers. Tech is last with 18.7 turnovers per game and CU is 15th with 17.8. “We’ve been working, of course, the last two weeks on limiting our turnovers, making good decisions, taking care of the ball,” Payne said. “So that’s a big priority. They’re athletic. They like to press. They shoot the ball. They’re a good team.” … Tech has lost two in a row and is 2-5 on the road this season. … Tech’s Kilah Freelon (3.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg) is a junior from Mullen High School in Denver, while junior Jada Wynn (2.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg) began her career at CU, during the 2022-23 season. … CU backup point guard Kennedy Sanders has missed the past two games with an ankle injury and is day-to-day.
