A 24-year-old Crestwood man died Sunday after the Jeep he was driving was involved in a crash at the intersection of 143rd Street and Harlem Avenue in unincorporated Cook County near Orland Park.
Ronald Bobowski, of the 14100 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue, died from multiple injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
According to Cook County sheriff’s police, Bobowski’s Jeep was traveling west on 143rd through the intersection with Harlem when it collided about 6 p.m. with a minivan that was eastbound on 143rd and attempting to turn north onto Harlem.
Police said that after the collision, it appears Bobowski lost control of his vehicle, which struck a traffic signal pole.
Bobowski was extricated from the Jeep by the Orland Fire Protection District and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The 51-year-old driver of the van, an Alsip woman, and two teenage passengers were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released, police said.
The driver of the van was cited for failure to yield and for no proof of valid insurance, police said.
