A man was hospitalized Wednesday night after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the road at a Napa intersection, police said.
Napa police responded about 9:42 p.m. to the reported crash around West Imola Avenue and Gasser Drive, just east of the Napa River, Lt. Brett Muratori said. Officers found the man pinned under one of the vehicles, Capt. Chris Pacheco said.
Responding fire personnel pulled the man, who had major injuries, out from under the vehicle and took him to a hospital where he was in stable condition Thursday, according to authorities.
Preliminary information indicates the man was crossing the road as the two vehicles were headed east, Lt. Omar Salem said in a Thursday news release. Both drivers cooperated with investigators and it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors. Investigators are still determining how the crash occurred, Salem said.
The eastbound lanes of West Imola Avenue at Gasser Drive were shut down about 10:09 p.m., according to an Alert Napa County message. Authorities asked residents to avoid the area. Officials reopened the roadway about 2 a.m. Thursday, Muratori said.
Napa police are asking that anyone with information or videos of the collision call Detective Adam Barrera at 707-257-7587 or email him at abarrera@cityofnapa.org.
