Michele Ann Smith (née De Simone) passed away on Sunday in Chico, California, at the age of69. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Michele moved to California with her family at the age of one. A spirited and vivacious individual, she made her mark early on as a high school track star, and later, as a talented singer in a local band. It was through her music that she met the love of her life, her husband Allen T. Smith.
Michele’s life was tragically cut short in an unfortunate and unusual circumstance, which is still under investigation. Her husband fought valiantly to save her before paramedics arrived, but she ultimately passed away at the hospital. While her passing has left her family grieving, they are determined to seek answers.
Throughout her life, Michele’s personality shone brightly. She was an avid lover of music, crafts, and the freedom of riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles with her husband. Above all, she cherished her daughter, Ellene M. Smith (born Megan E. Smith), and had a special place in her heart for her family.
Michele’s Italian heritage played a significant role in shaping who she was, and she always enjoyed the warmth and love of family gatherings filled with laughter, delicious food, and memories.
Michele had recently started to pen what seemed to be a memoir, though it remained incomplete. Her family believes it would have been a remarkable work, had she had the chance to finish it.
She is survived by her loving husband, Allen T. Smith; daughter, Ellene M. Smith; and her brother, Ron M. De Simone. Her passing leaves a deep void, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her family is working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind her untimely death. Michele will be laid to rest in Tulare, alongside her husband and mother-in-law, where she will forever be at peace.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 17th at 11:00am at the Chico Elks Lodge. Arrangements are entrusted to Brusie Funeral Home.
Arrivederci bella donna, mi mamma! You will be dearly missed.
