Shoplifting suspect wanted for thefts
Authorities arrested a suspected shoplifter wanted on theft charges this week.
Hunter Bass Prater, 24, of San Rafael was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, possessing unlawful paraphernalia, and for having seven bench warrants.
Police were called at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday after the suspect allegedly stole from the REI store at Town Center in Corte Madera. The police later detained the suspect at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal and found stolen property and illegal drug paraphernalia, Central Marin police Sgt. Jeff Peterson said.
Prater had four outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Marin County on charges such as burglary, burglary tool possession, and attempted grand theft, according to jail records.
Peterson said that police believe that the suspect previously stole from the same REI store.
He was booked into Marin County Jail. His total bail was set at more than $80,000, according to jail records.
