


Aptos High’s boys track and field team beat Scotts Valley 106-25 and Mount Madonna 131-0, and the Falcons beat the Hawks 77-0 in a Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tri-meet at Aptos on Thursday.
Aptos senior Logan Brantley took first in the shot put (54-7.5) and discus (155-10), and the Mariners won in 12 events.
Other Mariners winners include seniors Deric Moren (100, 11.42), Vincent Sandford-Carroll (800, 2:06.45), William Jertberg (300 hurdles, 48.49), Casey MacConnell (high jump, 6-0), and Adrian Fernandez (triple jump, 39-9), junior Brady Bliesner (3,200; 10:31.10), and sophomores Sam Hansen (400, 54.13), Anthony Sandford-Carroll (1,600; 4:32.48), and Bryce Boudreault (pole vault, 10-6).
Aptos also took first in the 4×100 relay (43.91).
Scotts Valley earned wins from juniors Evan Wong (200, 23.89) and Vaughn Chomentowski (long jump, 20-2), and freshman Aaron Wheeler (110 hurdles, 18.83).
Santa Cruz and St. Abraham’s at Soquel >> Knights senior Logan Walters took first in the 100 (11.17), 200 (22.82), and pole vault (13-1.5), and classmate Nolen Westfall took first in the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (38-11) in an SCCAL tri-meet at Soquel on Thursday.
The Knights also took first in the 4×100 relay (44.08).
Junior Sebastian Williams took first in the shot put (39-1) and discus (111-8) to pace the Cardinals.Other Cardinals winners include seniors Eli Fitchen-Young (400, 51.68), Dylan Hermanson (long jump, 20-6.5), and Emiliano Villarreal (1,600; 4:59.46), sophomores Caelan Harris (800, 2:06.08) and Gabe Lewis (110 hurdles, 20.47), and freshmen Anders Laurberg (3,200; 10:21.32) and Holden Diaz (300 hurdles, 51.51). The Cardinals also won in the 4×400 relay (3:38.29).
At San Lorenzo Valley 71, Harbor 29 >> Sophomore Jonathan Santi, junior Isaiah Maier, and freshman Finn Lonsdale each won two individual events for the Cougars in their SCCAL home meet Thursday.
Santi took first in the 800 (2:18.72) and 1,600 (5:10.86), Maier took first in the 110 hurdles (21.56) and 300 hurdles (47.52), and Lonsdale took first in the high jump (5-6) and triple jump (35-4).
Other Cougars winners include senior Louis Kressman (400, 56.38), and freshmen Peter Heery (discus, 98-10) and Charles Kressman (long jump, 17-8.50). SLV also won in the 4×100 (46.96).
Harbor senior Fausto Gonzalez took first in the 100 (12.21) and 200 (25.17), and sophomore teammate Daymen Magnuson-Chappell won in the shot put (36-1.5).
At Stevenson 67, Watsonville 65 >> Seniors Gerardo Acosta-Perez and Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar, and junior Lisandro Pantoja each won two individual events in the Wildcatz’s narrow PCAL meet loss Thursday.
Acosta-Perez took first in the 110 hurdles (18.78) and pole vault (10-9), Aceves-Aguilar took first in the long jump (19-5.5) and triple jump (40-3.5), and Pantoja took first in the shot put (42-6) and discus (143-8).
The Wildcatz’s 4×400 relay (3:47.0) and freshman Noel Navarro (300, hurdles, 47.82) also earned wins.
Girls
Scotts Valley and Mount Madonna at Aptos >> Junior Maya Schiro, and sophomores Maya Schiro, Ellie Marta, Bella Hartnett, and Scarlett Stateler each won two individual events for the Mariners in their SCCAL tri-meet on Thursday.
Aptos beat Scotts Valley 107-18 and Mount Madonna 122-0, and the Falcons beat the Hawks 33-0.
Schiro took first in the 1,600 (5:26.92) and 3,200 (11:50.25), Marta took first in the shot put (26-8) and discus (97-9), Hartnett took first in the 200 in the third-best time in school history (25.96) and pole vault (7-0), and Stateler took first in the high jump (4-6) and triple jump (33-0).
Other Mariners winners include seniors Natasha Newcombe (400, 1:03.20), Mia Parello (800, 2:57.53), and Izzy Graff (long jump, 15-9.5), sophomore Bella Hernandez (100 hurdles, 21.48), and freshman Arrow Waite (300 hurdles, 1:02.63). Aptos also took first in the 4×100 relay (50.33).
Scotts Valley senior Sarah Drees took first in the 100 (13.11).
Santa Cruz and St. Abraham’s at Soquel: Cardinals freshman Haisley Flanagan took first in the 100 hurdles (17.42), 300 hurdles (55.99), and long jump (15-9.25) in an SCCAL tri-meet at Soquel on Thursday.
Cardinals senior Heidi Green took first in the 800 (2:25.39) and 1,600 (5:49.17), and sophomore teammate Joy Roberts took first in the 100 (12.92) and 200 (26.37).
Other Santa Cruz event winners include senior Meilia Nee (pole vault, 9-6), juniors Joy Hilldale (high jump, 4-6) and Lily Gingery (400, 1:05.11), and freshman Isla Roake (3,200; 11:58.27).
The Cardinals also won both the 4×100 relay (51.50) and 4×400 relay (4:18.11).
Soquel junior Summer Shields took first in the shot put (26-7) and discus (81-0). Junior teammate Ivory Woodson won in the triple jump (28-2).
At SLV 59, Harbor 30 >> Senior Naomi Seastrom and freshman Stella Sutcliffe each won two individual events for the Cougars in their SCCAL home meet win Thursday.
Seastrom took first in the 200 (27.69) and 100 hurdles (17.61), and Sutcliffe took first in the 800 (2:37.14) and 1,600 (5:44.44).
Other wins for the Cougars came from senior Orea Pollock (high jump, 4-11), and sophomores Madison Fogerty (100, 14.08), Skyla Leggett (400, 1:04.86), and Chloe Ryssemus (triple jump, 31-2.5).
Harbor senior Karmalynn Claussen-Sadeh (shot put, 17-4), and sophomores Ximena Jimenez (discus, 51-4) and Julianne Sanguinetti (long jump, 14-11) earned wins for the Pirates.
At Stevenson 89.5, Watsonville 46.5 >> Junior Lizbeth Gomez Abrica took first in the 800 (2:30.44) and 3,200 (12:32.21) in the Wildcatz’s PCAL meet loss Thursday.
Seniors Katelynn Ruiz (1,600, 6:00.02) and Jocelyn Guzman (300 hurdles, 49.77), junior Ximena Pimentel (400, 1:10.66), and sophomore Hayley Hernandez (long jump, 11-8) also posted wins for the Wildcatz.
