Festival of the Lakes hosts Golf Scramble

The 16th annual Festival of the Lakes is hosting a Golf Scramble on July 19 at Lost Marsh Golf Course, 901 129th St., Hammond. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the shotgun start is at 9 a.m. Those interested can register for a foursome in advance from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the business office at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Ave. A $400 registration fee is required for each foursome. Each participant will receive a complimentary lunch and gift bag, and prizes will be awarded for first place, second place, closest to the pin and longest drive. Bringing Nature Home applications available

Shirley Heinze Land Trust is hosting the ninth annual Bringing Nature Home Awards program. The initiative recognizes those who landscape their grounds or yards using plant species that are native to northwestern Indiana. Businesses, institutions, public agencies, landscapers and home gardeners are eligible. Plantings in Lake, Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties are eligible, with assistance from the St. Joseph County Parks Department for applicants in its area. The 16th annual Festival of the Lakes will feature the Kathleen Pucalik Memorial 5K Walk/Run July 20 at The Wolf Lake Aquatic Play Center, 2100 Calumet Ave., Hammond. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. Early registration is $20 on or before July 19, race day $25. A free children’s race will begin at 8:15 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three female and male overall; and first place male and female finisher in each age division. YMCA Family Night scheduled at Deep River Water Park

The Hobart Family YMCA will host a Family Fun Night on July 31 at Deep River Waterpark, 9001 E. Lincoln Highway, Merrillville.
