Michigan man booked on robbery allegation

Police arrested a Michigan man on suspicion of robbery on Mill Valley.

The incident happened Tuesday on Gardner Street. The suspect has been in the area for the past few weeks and knows the victim, Mill Valley police Detective Sgt. David Kollerer said.

Police allege the crime happened during a dispute over personal property. No injuries were reported.

In addition to a robbery allegation, Jonathan Rodgers, 44, of West Bloomfield Township was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of public intoxication and obstructing police. His bail amount was set at $75,000.

Suspect convicted for tear gas attack

A San Rafael man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of pepper spraying an auto shop employee during a confrontation.

Mitchell Wayne Weifenbach, 31, accepted a plea offer on Tuesday in Marin County Superior Court. As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution dropped a felony charge of making a criminal threat.

The crime happened Jan. 5 on Andersen Drive. Police said Weifenbach rode his bicycle onto the property, told the employee that the property belonged to him and doused the worker with pepper spray.

During the plea hearing Tuesday, Judge Kevin Murphy told Weifenbach he faces 120 days in jail and two years on probation for the conviction. Murphy scheduled the sentencing for March 11.

Police: Armed suspect arrested after fracas

San Rafael police arrested a suspect who allegedly threatened bystanders with a sharp tool.

The incident happened at about 2:20 p.m. Monday near the corner of Smith Ranch Road and Yosemite Road. When police arrived, the suspect became belligerent and combative with officers, prompting them to use foam projectiles and a Taser in the struggle to subdue him, police Lt. Scott Eberle. One officer was injured by a punch. Police found a box cutter in the suspect’s pocket.

Stanley Erole, 28, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, assaulting an officer and obstructing police. Erole was taken to a hospital for evaluation rather than the county jail, Eberle said.

Applicants appointed to commission seats

The Board of Supervisors has appointed or reappointed 11 residents to terms on county boards.

The appointees include Donje Fields, Araceli Madrigal and Ruthie Reeder for the Child Care Commission; Pamela Lichtenwalner, Kirk Marckwald and Rob Steinberg for the Measure W West Marin TOT Oversight Committee; Susan Dent, William Rothman and James Stephenson for the Peace Conversion Commission; and Franccesca Calle La Bou and Maria Criollo for the Women’s Commission.

The supervisors approved the appointments during their meeting on Jan. 28.
