The Scotia Band invites current and former graduates of Humboldt County high schools to apply for the annual Sewell Lufkin Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 award to be applied to the costs of college-level music education or a music minor.

Applications will take the form of a letter detailing the applicant’s history in music as well as their plans for the future, sent along with a letter of recommendation to Scotia Band, P.O. Box 3, Scotia, CA 95565. More information and an official application form may be found at the band’s website, www.scotiaband.org.

The enrollment period ends April 18. The winning applicant will be announced shortly thereafter.
