Rap star sues social media giant
Rap star Eminem’s music company, Eight Mile Style, has filed a lawsuit against Meta, claiming the social media giant allowed users to access the rapper’s songs without proper permission.
The lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court in Michigan, accuses the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp of “storing, reproducing, and distributing Eminem’s music without obtaining the license to do so,” according to People magazine.
Eight Mile Style, which owns 243 compositions from the Detroit rapper is seeking more than $109 million in damages.
