We’ve officially made it through the first full week of the basketball regular season plus a few bonus games that took place during the week of Thanksgiving.
Several teams and players have come out of the gate hot, including the 3-1 Dakota boys and unbeaten Chippewa Valley girls.

Boys basketball
GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 60, ROMEO 42 >> Alex Kelley led the Bulldogs with eight points, six rebounds and two blocks in the loss. Kooper Richards led the Blue Devils with 19 points and five assists.
DAKOTA 63, STEVENSON 35 >> Brayden Lee’s 13 points and six rebounds led the Cougars. Arnez Sanders had 10 points, Egan Poppema had nine, Benji Jackson had eight points, two assists and two steals and Dekovan Thomas stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, eight rebounds and five assists.
GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 48, DETROIT LOYOLA 47 >> Kooper Richards was the star of the show for Grosse Pointe South, scoring 23 points with five assists to help get the narrow win.
CASS TECH 72, DAKOTA 56 >> Dekovan Thomas’s 22 points and eight rebounds led the Cougars in the loss.
PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 73, AUSTIN CATHOLIC 32 >> The Eagles were led by Julian Montano’s 18 points, six steals and four assists. Tyler Powers added 15 points and five boards and Isaiah Harrison had 14 points and five rebounds.
DAKOTA 61, FORD II 59 >> Dekovan Thomas was the man for Dakota in the MAC crossover win, getting 26 points with four dimes and two swipes. Keylon Jackson had 10 points, Benji Jackson had nine, and Tovin Williams and Brayden Lee each had six.
ANCHOR BAY 41, ST. CLAIR 39 >> Zach Norman scored 12 and Karsen Thomas added 11 for the Tars, but Mason Erikson was the hero when he scored his only two points of the game with a tip-in at the buzzer. The Saints were led by Braylon Frantz’s 17 points.
PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 49, OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 46 >> The Eagles pulled off the overtime victory thanks to five points in the final period by Tyler Powers, who finished with 13 points — the same amount as Isaiah Harrison. Julian Montano contributed 10.
CLARKSTON 78, STEVENSON 50 >> The Titans got 18 points from Braydon Maharidge and 11 from Jackson Culp but weren’t able to overcome four Wolves scoring in double figures, led by John Kaul’s 19.
DAKOTA 50, LAKE ORION 32 >> Fifteen points from Dekovan Thomas helped push the Cougars over their cross-county rival. Arnez Sanders (eight points), Tovin Williams (five), Keylon Jackson (five) and Brayden Lee (four) contributed to the total.
Girls basketball
PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 49, CARDINAL MOONEY 27 >> Angelina Marchesi led the Eagles with 22 points in the Eagles’ season debut. Tamerah Peterson scored 18 points.
DAKOTA 50, OXFORD 31 >> Brooklyn Garavaglia led the Cougars with 22 points, seven steals and five assists. Meadow Cameron added eight points and six steals and Allie Ruggirello had seven points.
ST. CLAIR 59, RICHMOND 31 >> St. Clair was paced by Gracie Pickelhaupt’s 20 points and eight assists. Rylee Schneider added 10 points and eight boards.
GROSSE POINTE NORTH 40, UNIVERSITY LIGGETT 29 >> Eva Borowski led the Norse with 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.
CHIPPEWA VALLEY 62, L’ANSE CREUSE 46 >> Gracyn Carrier’s 21 points, four assists and four steals paved the way for the Big Reds. Zae’na Thacker had 12 points and MyKenzi Harris had 11 points and five steals. L’Anse Creuse got 16 points from Allison Tuladziecki.
ST. CLAIR 68, EASTPOINTE 29 >> Allie Komarowski scored 18 and Sophia Russell had 17 for St. Clair.
ROSEVILLE 58, CLINTONDALE 16 >> Keyonna Scorpio scored 19 points and pulled down eight boards for the Panthers, and Meko Barbee cleaned the glass with 15 rebounds and eight points.
ARMADA 72, CARMEN AINSWORTH 46 >> Ashlyn Upton’s 23 points and six steals combined with Claire Sniesak’s 16-point, 10-rebound double-double paced the Tigers for the win. Brooklyn Khon was a distributor with 11 assists.
LAKEVIEW 34, MARYSVILLE 15 >> Rayna Porter led the Huskies with 12 points in the win.
WARREN MOTT 57, FITZGERALD 51 >> The Marauders pulled off the overtime win behind 21 points from Addison Brown and 15 from Niah Sims. Kaylynn Millander poured in 20 for the Spartans.
PORT HURON NORTHERN 53, COUSINO 40 >> Charlotte Eastman and Kate Nichols each had 16 points for the Huskies. DeMaya Asberry’s 15 points and eight rebounds plus Londyn Johnson’s 13 points and nine boards weren’t enough for the Patriots.
FORD II 55, ANCHOR BAY 33 >> Anayya Davis piled up stats with 18 points, nine rebounds, three steals and seven assists with Tyra Wright adding 13 points and three dimes. Claire O’Brien had nine points and eight rebounds and Emily Leusby had eight points and six rebounds.
GROSSE POINTE NORTH 46, UTICA 44 >> Eva Borowski led all scorers with 23 points for the Norse. Violet Smith had 14 and Alexis Petruccili added 13 for the Chieftains.
CHIPPEWA VALLEY 57, PORT HURON 38 >> Gracyn Carrier dominated to the tune of 27 points along with eight rebounds, seven steals and three assists for the Big Reds. MyKenzi Harris added 13 points and seven rebounds.
