David Nakamura was the eldest of four siblings born to Nellie and Harry Nakamura in 1927 in Los Angeles, CA. His family moved to the Mountain View area and lived there through the Great Depression, until they were taken from the area and held at the Heart Mountain Internment Camp during World War II.

David served in the US Army’s 442 Battalion of Nisei soldiers, and was inducted as a trumpeter in the Army Band. In 2010, David was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his service in the 442nd.

After he got out of the Army, David went to college and graduated with a degree in Business from Cal Berkeley. After graduation he worked early in his career in purchasing for several companies including Lockheed. David was an entrepreneur, and started several businesses including a movie theater, and most notably a very successful international import business for electronic components. He ran this business through most of his career.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Nellie Nakamura, his granddaughter Laura, his youngest brother George, and his other younger brother Kenny, who died in the Heart Mountain Internment Camp during World War II.

David is survived by his sister Margaret Cooper, his three kids Lisa, David Jr., and Judy, and his three nephews, Mark, Eric, and Sean.
