
SALINAS >> Senior running back Caden Prichard scored four touchdowns, and Aptos High’s football team beat Alvarez 54-24 on Friday night — its third straight game scoring 50-plus points — to set the stage for its anticipated Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan Division showdown with Salinas.
Prichard returned two kickoffs for scores, rushed for a touchdown and hauled in a TD pass.
Junior running back Lawrence Ingram IV rushed for three touchdowns. Joshua Towley scored on a 55-yard run on the last play of the half, which gave the Mariners a 47-3 lead. Collin Mennie also had a touchdown run.
Aptos led 35-3 after the first quarter and started playing its reserves. Phoenix Ghiglione had a breakout game at halfback and rushed for more than 75 yards.
The Mariners (5-1, 2-0) look to snap a four-game losing streak to Salinas (6-0, 2-0) when they host the reigning four-time Gabilan Division champions on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Salinas, which has rattled off 17 straight regular season wins, is 27-1 over the last four years in the Gabilan.
Over its last three games, Aptos has outscored the opposition 165-38.
MVC 34, North Salinas 24
WATSONVILLE — Connor Pallott scored four touchdowns — three rushing and a fumble recovery in the end zone — to help the Mustangs (3-4, 1-2) win their PCAL Mission Division battle Friday night.
Quarterback Dominic Pierini also ran for a touchdown for the Mustangs, who host Scotts Valley on Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

MONTEREY — Niko Iles scored for the Falcons, but they dropped their PCAL Mission Division contest Friday, giving them consecutive losses for the first time since 2019.
Preston White connected with Kavon Collins from 10 yards out for the game winning score with 7:45 left in the fourth quarter.
It was the second lowest offensive output this season for the Toreadores (5-2, 3-0), who scored 50 points in each of their previous two games.
The Falcons (4-2, 0-2) host Carmel (3-3, 1-1) on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Alisal 42, Santa Cruz 19
SALINAS — Myles Reber had a pair of touchdown receptions in the second half of the Cardinals’ PCAL Gabilan Division loss Friday night.
Jonathon Grey scored on screen pass that went for 60 yards in the first quarter for the Cardinals (1-6, 0-3).
Cardinals sophomore Niko Smutzer replaced Dominic Lopezzi at quarterback after Lopezzi was felled by injury.
Santa Cruz hosts Everett Alvarez (1-6, 0-3) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Trojans (3-3, 1-1) snapped a three-game losing streak, thanks to two touchdown runs from Diego Chaidez and one from Damion Gonzalez.
The 42-point eruption was the most points the Trojans have scored since 2018.
David Mandujano added a touchdown run for Alisal, while Santiago Chaidez connected with Jesus Maciel for six.
King City 35, Watsonville 0
KING CITY — Jjey Martinez threw three touchdown passes to lead the Mustangs (3-3, 1-1) over the WIldcatz (2-5, 0-3) in PCAL Cypress Division play Friday.
Martinez connected with Adrian Perez twice and Adan Garcia-Loa once for touchdowns.
Garcia-Lao also returned an interception for a touchdown, the fourth defensive touchdown of the season for King City. Isaac Benavides added a 7-yard touchdown run.
Watsonville’s Matthew Gonzales had three receptions for 100 yards. The Wildcatz reached the red zone multiple times, but turned the ball over on downs.
The Wildcatz have a bye next week and return to action Oct. 21, when they host Pacific Grove (4-2, 1-1) at 7:30 p.m.
