The new-look Colorado women’s basketball team will kick off the new season on the road and will open its first season back in the Big 12 Conference in Boulder.

CU announced its full schedule on Thursday, and it includes a trip to Laramie, Wyo., on opening night, Nov. 4, to take on the Wyoming Cowgirls. The nonconference slate also includes in-state matchups with Denver and Northern Colorado, and a visit from perennial top-25 program Louisville.

After 13 seasons in the Pac-12, the Buffs make their return to the Big 12 — CU’s conference home from 1996-2011. The Buffs will kick off Big 12 play on Dec. 21 against West Virginia in Boulder.

The Big 12 schedule also includes home games against Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Central Florida, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech. The Buffs will have road games against Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and West Virginia.

Game times will be announced at a later date.

Coming off back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances, head coach JR Payne and her staff has 10 newcomers among the 14 players on the roster this season. That group will get the season started against a regional rival in Wyoming.

CU and Wyoming have met 49 times, but this will be the first matchup since the Buffs’ 66-56 win in Laramie on Nov. 17, 2019. CU leads the series, 38-11, including 16-8 in Laramie.

Three days later, on Nov. 7, the Buffs will host Northern Colorado in their home opener at the CU Events Center. CU leads the all-time series 14-6 and has won the past 11 matchups with the Bears, dating back to UNC’s last win in 1978.
