SANTA CLARA — Desperate for help at defensive end, the 49ers agreed Tuesday to take in Keion White, a New England Patriots 2023 draft flop.

The 49ers are sending a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for White and a 2026 seventh-round pick, a league source confirmed. The deal, first reported by NFL Network, is pending White’s physical.

White (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) has no sacks and no quarterback hits through 123 snaps and five games this season. He was inactive for Sunday’s 32-13 home win over Cleveland.

A second-round draft pick from Georgia Tech, White opened last season with four sacks in the first two games. He had with five sacks in 2024, which included a visit to the 49ers where he hit Brock Purdy twice in a 30-13 49ers win.

Another expected arrival is 2023 starter Clelin Ferrell, who auditioned with three other defensive linemen Tuesday and will be added to the practice squad, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported.

The 49ers lost a defensive end earlier Tuesday when Carolina signed Trevis Gipson off their practice squad.

The 49ers also made an offensive line move on their practice squad as Andre Dillard replaced Brandon Parker.
