


Relievers Richard Kiel and Simon Martinez combined for five shutout innings and the San Rafael Pacifics rallied for a 12-11 victory over the Monterey Amberjacks at Albert Park on Thursday.
Kiel registered five strikeouts and three walks in four no-hit innings as he took the mound with the Pacifics (22-7) trailing 11-5 in the fifth inning. Martinez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to get the win.
Fred Buckson returned from injury to got 2-for-4 and score a pair of runs, including the tying run in the bottom of the ninth. Gino Hutchinson scored the winning run from third on a wild pitch.
Aki Buckson drew four walks and scored three runs for San Rafael, while Blake Diggle hit a two-run double. Kyle Guerra tripled and drove in a pair of runs for the Pacifics, who have a home-and-home series with the Vallejo Seaweed (11-18) on Saturday and Sunday.
• The NorCal Black 2026 club saw its three-game streak snapped Friday in a 4-0 road loss to SBG Sox Prime. NorCal (6-3) is scheduled to play Team Stofsky in Georgia on Saturday.
College football
Rising Marin Catholic senior Jarred Geissberger announced via social media on Thursday that he has committed to play for Cal Poly.
Geissberger was named first team at running back and second team as a defensive back for the Redwood Empire Conference Adobe Division last year. Geissberger helped lead the Wildcats to the league title. MC advanced to the North Coast Section Open Division playoffs as one of the top eight programs in the NCS.
Geissberger’s athletic accomplishments extend beyond the football field to the track. Geissberger was the MCAL champion in the 100 meters as a sophomore in 2024.
