Golden State two-way guard Pat Spencer made four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 34 points in Santa Cruz’s 128-118 win over Salt Lake City in NBA G League action at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Saturday night.

Spencer also had seven rebounds and six assists.

The Warriors (8-4) made 27 assists while committing just 12 turnovers and shot 55.1% (49 of 89) from the field. They shot 51.6% (16 of 31) on 3-point attempts.

Javan Johnson and reserve Blake Hinson also made four 3s apiece. Johnson finished with 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Hinson finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

Santa Cruz had seven players reach double digits in scoring. Jackson Rowe had 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists; and 7-foot center Seth Maxwell scored a season-high 14 points.

Guard Yuri Collins had 11 points, four rebounds, and seven assists, and reserve Donta Scott also scored 11 points and had six rebounds.

Santa Cruz trailed 63-60 at the half, but outscored the Stars 34-23 in the third quarter.

Dereon Seabron made six 3s for the Stars (6-6) and finished with a team-high 30 points.Taevion Kinsey scored 26 points. Two-way forward Micah Potter (18 points and 12 rebounds) and two-way center Oscar Tshiebwe (17 points and 18 rebounds) recorded double-doubles. Reserve guard Max Abmas scored 15 points.

The Warriors remain tied for second place with the Austin Spurs (8-4), behind the Stockton Kings (10-2), in the Western Conference standings.

Santa Cruz plays at the San Diego Clippers (5-7) at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

At Scotts Valley 65, Soquel 58 >> Twin senior guards Will and Zach Shilling each scored 20 points in the Falcons’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win Saturday.

Zach Shilling made a 3-pointer from the top of the key with two minutes left to put Scotts Valley (9-10, 3-2) up by six points, and the Falcons held on for the win.

Senior wing Taylor Knox scored 12 points for the Falcons, and senior center Jacob Sanders pulled down 16 rebounds.

Senior Peyton Bortz scored 13 points to lead the Knights (9-10, 2-3). Senior guard Nico Ramirez added 10 points.

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., Scotts Valley hosts Aptos, while Soquel hosts San Lorenzo Valley (4-13, 0-5).

At Aptos 72, Harbor 50 >> Senior guard Ryan Solorio made four of his five 3-point attempts and scored a season-high 16 points in the unbeaten Mariners’ SCCAL win Saturday.

Aptos led 42-16 at the half.

Senior forward Isaiah Ackerman was 8-of-9 shooting from the field and scored 16 points for the Mariners (15-4, 5-0). Sophomore guard Cade Bogle scored 10 points.

Junior center Will Roden led Harbor (6-12, 1-4) with 12 points, and senior guard Miles Dix added 10 points.

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., Aptos plays at Scotts Valley (9-10, 3-2), while Harbor plays at Santa Cruz (10-8, 4-1).

At Santa Cruz 77, SLV 24 >> Junior forward DeMarco Hunter had nine dunks and finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win Saturday.

The Cardinals gave senior guard Mosiah Cumberbatch the night off to rest a leg injury.

Sophomore guard L.J. Legan made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Santa Cruz (10-8, 4-1). Sophomore guard Kaden Mirtz had nine points and nine rebounds.

Senior guard/forward Noah Steiger scored eight points for the Cougars (4-13, 0-5). Junior guard Wyatt Himmelstrup scored seven points.

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., Santa Cruz hosts Harbor (6-12, 1-4), while SLV plays at Soquel (9-10, 2-3).

At Stevenson 64, Monte Vista Christian 60 >> The Mustangs fell short in their Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division loss Saturday.

Cooper Olin scored 20 points for the Pirates (8-9, 4-3).

At Scotts Valley 56, Soquel 32 >> Junior guard Brooklyn Williams made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Falcons to their SCCAL win Saturday.

Junior guard Sammy Rebbert scored 14 points, and sophomore Hanna Shehorn scored 13 points.

The unbeaten Falcons (15-2, 5-0) trailed 14-5 after the first quarter, but tied the score at 19-all by halftime.

Senior Ana Mauer, who signed her commitment to NCAA D-II UC Merced on Friday, scored 17 points for the Knights (4-8, 2-3). Neely Pfeiffer chipped in with six points.

On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Scotts Valley hosts Aptos, while Soquel hosts SLV.

At Santa Cruz 63, SLV 10 >> Junior Brooke Alden had 12 points and 17 rebounds in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win Saturday.

Sophomore Ania Sinnott had 12 points, four steals, three assists, and two rebounds. Sophomore Mila Conn also scored 12 points.

Junior Karolina Espinosa chipped in with eight points, four steals, and two assists for the Cardinals (9-9, 4-1), who led 39-6 at the half.

Taylor Kievlan scored five points to lead the Cougars (9-9, 1-4).

On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Santa Cruz hosts Harbor, while SLV plays at Soquel.

At Aptos 43, Harbor 29 >> Sophomore guard Emi Gansauer-Pilcher made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points, and the Mariners’ won their SCCAL game Saturday.

Junior forward Abby Sherwood had 10 points for the Mariners (11-8, 3-2), who jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter.

Aptos senior forward Berkeley Ashby had eight points, four assists, and three steals, and freshman guard Victoria Macias had seven points, three assists, and four steals.

Lynbrook Ladies Challenge >> SLV junior Jennifer Black and Santa Cruz sophomore Marlena Gustafson and freshman teammate Vera Bentley took first in their respective weight divisions at the Lynbrook Ladies Challenge in San Jose on Saturday.

Black (120 pounds) pinned Leland senior Kara Wheaton in the final and went 4-0 with three pins. Gustafson (125) earned a 15-0 tech fall over Presentation senior Micaela Barr-Gutierrez in the final and went 4-0 with three pins, including an upset of the No. 1 seed. Bentley (130) pinned Monterey senior Giada Melendez in the final and finished 4-0 with three pins and a tech fall.

Harbor’s Kira Demma (135) and Julia Carranza (145) took second, and Soquel’s Alize Robles (130) took third.

Aptos’ Lilly Bane (100), Soquel’s Anika Radich (130), Santa Cruz’s Onyx Escobar (140) and SLV’s Gabriella Brasuell (155) took fifth.

Monterey (213.0) took first out of 46 teams. Lynbrook (146.5) was second, and Archbishop Mitty (130.5) was third. Santa Cruz (91.0) took fifth, Harbor (60.0) tied for eighth, SLV (48.0) was 13th, and Soquel (23.0) edged Aptos (22.0) for 25th.

Boys wrestling

MidCals Classic >> Aptos’ Cruz Contreras (130 pounds) took fourth place in his weight division and Santa Cruz’s Balam Letona (124) took sixth at the prestigious MidCals Classic at Gilroy High on Saturday.

Contreras finished with a 6-1 record in the two-day event. Letona went 6-2.

Gilroy (302.0 points) took first out of 123 schools. Buchanan (283.5) took second, and Los Gatos (192.0) was third. Aptos (59.5) took 28th, MVC (40.0) took 45th, Soquel (40.0) was 46th, Santa Cruz (17.5) was 82nd, and SLV (12.5) was 89th.

College baseball

Modesto 14, at Cabrillo 6 >> Leadoff hitter Jayson Schmeisser had four of his team’s 16 hits, but the Seahawks dropped their season opener on Saturday. He also scored twice.

Carlos Cruz Mar had three hits and three RBI for the Seahawks (0-1). Truett Ross had two hits, one RBI, and scored twice.

Cabrillo’s Jacob Fiorenza, Diego Grabiel, and Kaiden Hoapili each had two hits. Fiorenza had an RBI and run scored, and Grabiel drew two walks and also scored a run.

Anders Page-Roth pitched three innings and took the loss. Gavin Farinha gave up one run over four innings and earned the win.

Cabrillo hosts Diablo Valley (1-1) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

College softball

Cabrillo drops doubleheader >> The Seahawks lost 7-0 to Mendocino and 10-0 to Sacramento City in a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday.

The Seahawks dropped their season opener to Sierra, 11-5, on Friday.

Cabrillo (0-3) hosts Merced (0-0) in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Men’s volleyball

At Baldwin Wallace 3, UC Santa Cruz 1 >> Riley Norman had 13 kills, four aces, and six digs in the No. 13 Banana Slugs 19-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23 loss in Berea, Ohio, on Saturday.

Dylan Foreman had 10 kills for UCSC (6-4), and Kyle Ownbey had nine kills. Andrew Pak made 18 assists, and Caio Valente had 17 assists. Nico Espinoza made nine digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Owen Huynh made 18 kills for the Yellow Jackets (4-1).
