Mark Climaco defeated Victor Dias by unanimous decision to win the main event at Legacy Fighting Alliance 192 at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz on Friday.

Climaco won the flyweight bout 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 on the judges’ scorecards.

Aziz Osorbek Uulu won by submission over Filipe Esteves in their bantamweight bout with a rear naked choke at 4:47 of Round 1 of the co-main event.

In other main draw action, middleweight Buddy Wallace beat Renato Valente by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28), featherweight fighter Isaac Thomson beat Israel Delgado by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27), and middleweight Theo Haig won by submission over Dylan Diebitz with a rear naked choke at 4:03 of Round 2.

In the preliminary round, flyweight fighter Aupuni Pagaoa won by TKO over Houston Scibek at 4:36 of Round 1, bantamweight Shad Walters won by technical submission over Jaime Mora with a one-arm guillotine choke at 2:44 of Round 1, and bantamweight Corvan Allen won by unanimous decision over Roger Severson, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

Pro baseball

De Geus claimed >> The Toronto Blue Jays claimed right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus, a 26-year-old Cabrillo College alum, off waivers from the Miami Marlins. De Geus has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

De Geus has appeared in 11 games between Miami and Seattle this season. He spent the majority of the campaign at Triple-A Jacksonville and Tacoma. Between the Majors and the Triple-A level, he posted a 5.60 ERA.

Men’s soccer

Cabrillo 3, at American River 2 >> The Seahawks scored twice after Alex Castro-Neri received a red card ejection in the 30th minute and won their nonconference match Friday night in Sacramento.

Cabrillo had three other players receive yellow cards.

Cronan Hogan gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Mathis Gaultier assisted on goals from Jack Dawson in the 68th minute and Eduardo Alvarez in the 74th minute to put the Seahawks up 3-1.

ARC capped scoring in the 78th minute.

Goalie Angel Edgar made five saves for the Seahawks (1-1-1), who play at Foothill (4-2-0) in Los Altos Hills on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

UC Santa Cruz 2, at Willamette 2 >> Zander Crawford and Acer Cristea scored goals in opening 20 minutes of the Banana Slugs’ draw Friday in Salem, Oregon.

The Bearcats’ Sean Kim scored the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

UCSC received three of the four yellow cards that were handed out by game officials.

Goalie Tobias Jacobson-Bell made six saves for the unbeaten Banana Slugs (3-0-3), who play at La Verne (1-4-0) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Men’s water polo

San Joaquin Delta Tournament >> Cabrillo went 0-2 on the opening day of the San Joaquin Delta Tournament in Stockton on Friday.

The Seahawks, playing without any substitutes, lost 21-16 to Santa Rosa and 20-9 to Delta.

“We are learning to play together and getting better in each game,” coach Jasper Billings said.

Nolan Nguyen scored a total of 11 goals for Cabrillo and Aiden Howard scored 10. Joe Brennan scored twice, and Ayden Reed and Josh Retzlaff each added a goal. Goalie Ben Duarte made 11 total saves.

Girls volleyball

Harbor 3, at Salinas 0 >> Senior outside hitter Isla Johnson had 14 kills an seven digs, and the Pirates earned a 31-29, 25-19, 25-20 sweep in their nonleague match Friday.

Sophomore middle blocker Cecile Novembre had seven kills for the Pirates. Senior setter Sandy Enriquez had 15 assists, five digs, and three aces, and senior setter Callahan Stone had 11 assists and two aces.

Harbor (4-5, 2-0) plays at San Lorenzo Valley in Felton on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

At Scotts Valley 3, Sobrato 0 >> Junior opposite Aila Papadopoulos had 13 kills, four aces, and six digs, and the Falcons swept their opponent 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 in the nonleague match Friday.

Falcons senior outside hitter Ava Morrison had five kills, six digs, and two aces. Junior middle blocker Makayla McDonnell had six kills and two aces, and junior outside hitter Hayden Smith had eight kills.

Soquel (6-2) plays at Soquel on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Women’s volleyball

Cal Lutheran Invite >> UCSC went 1-1 on the opening day of the Cal Lutheran Invite in Thousand Oaks on Friday.

The Banana Slugs beat Chapman 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 and lost to Pomona-Pitzer 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 19-17.

Drew Bryant had 10 kills in UCSC’s win. Margo Melgoza made 18 assists, and Anna Hospodar made eight digs.

Ashley Magley had 12 kills and Kelly Ann Greene had 11 kills in UCSC’s loss. Melgoza made 25 assists, and Hospodar had 12 digs.

UCSC (6-5) plays East Texas Baptist (8-1) on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Girls cross country

Baylands Invitational >> Santa Cruz resident Evie Marheineke, a senior at Archbishop Mitty in San Jose, took first in the senior girls race at the inaugural Baylands Invitational in Sunnyvale on Friday. She completed the 4k course in 14:10.

Scotts Valley resident Alessia Carbone, a junior at Mitty, placed first in the junior girls race in 15:47.
