



Yarden Garzon scored 18 points and Shay Ciezki had 17 as ninth-seeded Indiana topped eighth-seeded Oregon 78-62 on Thursday in the second round of the women’s Big Ten Tournament at Indianapolis.
The Hoosiers advance to today’s quarterfinals against second-ranked and top-seeded USC. The Trojans won 73-66 at Indiana on Jan. 19.
Chloe Moore-McNeil added 13 points for the Hoosiers (19-11) and fifth-year senior Sydney Parrish, an Indiana native who spent her first two years at Oregon, had 10.
Indiana went 11 of 25 from 3-point range, improving to 9-0 when hitting at least eight. Garzon had four, Ciezki three and Parrish had two critical makes in the third quarter.
Peyton Scott had 16 points to lead the Ducks (19-11), who won the first meeting at home 54-47. Ehis Etute added 14 points.
Oregon had 18 turnovers that were converted into 20 points.
Ciezki hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the first quarter as Indiana hit five 3s and led 23-11. The lead stayed in double figures for all but a minute in the second quarter and the Hoosiers led 40-30 at the break.
The Ducks battled back, getting within six twice and five in the closing minute when Sarah Rambus hit a jumper to make in 53-48. But like the early threats, the Hoosiers answered with
Michigan 66, Washington 58: Olivia Olson scored 21 points, fellow freshman Syla Swords added 15 as the fifth-seeded Wolverines (21-9) advanced to play No. 4 seed and 15th-ranked Maryland today in a quarterfinal.
Olson opened and closed a 13-0 third-quarter run to give Michigan a 49-39 lead with 3:01 remaining in the frame. She scored nine points during the run, while Washington missed nine straight shots.
Dalayah Daniels had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Elle Ladine added 16 points for Washington (19-13).
Wednesday’s late results
Nebraska 84, Rutgers 60: Alexis Markowski scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the 10th-seeded Cornhuskers coasted to a win over the Scarlet Knights in the opening round of the Big Ten Conference Tournament.
Nebraska (20-10) played seventh-seeded Illinois later on Thursday.
Destiny Adams was 13 of 13 from the free-throw line and had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Rutgers (11-19).
Iowa 81, Wisconsin 54: Lucy Olsen scored 14 of her 19 points in the first half on 8-for-12 shooting for the Hawkeyes.
Sydney Affolter, Kylie Feuerbach and Taylor McCabe each scored nine points as Iowa (21-9) shot 57.4% (35 for 61) including 55% (11 for 20) from 3-point range. Iowa faced No. 6 seed Michigan State in Thursday’s late game.
Serah Williams scored 22 points for Wisconsin (13-17).
Women’s Top 25 Highlights
Vanderbilt 84, No. 18 Tennessee 76: Freshman Mikayla Blakes scored 24 points, Iyana Moore had 23 points and four 3-pointers, and as the Commodores won the second-round game on Thursday SEC Tournament at Greenville, S.C.
Khamil Pierre added 16 points and 15 rebounds for Vanderbilt (22-9). Blakes recorded her 19th 20-point game of the season.
Vanderbilt beat Tennessee twice in a single season for the first time in series history, including a 71-70 victory on Jan. 19 when Blakes made a putback with 0.8 seconds left.
Vanderbilt will play No. 1 seed and fifth-ranked South Carolina today in a quarterfinal.
Ruby Whitehorn had 14 points for Tennessee (22-9).
No. 10 Oklahoma 70, Georgia 52: Raegan Beers had 22 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, for the Sooners in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at Greenville, S.C.
Trinity Turner had 12 points for Georgia (13-19).
No. 25 South Dakota State 87, Omaha 67: Brooklyn Meyer scored 16 points in leading the Jackrabbits to a win in the Summit League Tournament at Sioux Falls, S.D.
South Dakota State (27-3), which has 57 consecutive wins over conference opponents, plays in Saturday’s semifinal against the winner of today’s quarterfinal between No. 4 seed St. Thomas and No. 5 North Dakota.
Paige Meyer and reserve Madysen Vlastuin scored 12 points for the Jackrabbits, who have gone through three regular seasons unbeaten in league games and have won the past two tournaments.
South Dakota State’s three losses were to Duke, Georgia Tech and now-No. 1 Texas.

No. 13 Maryland 71, No. 17 Michigan 65: Derik Queen had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Terrapins on Wednesday night in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Maryland (23-7, 13-6) won for the sixth time in seven games and gifted at least a share of the Big Ten title to No. 8 Michigan State.
Maryland’s only loss in this stretch was to the Spartans on a buzzer-beater.
Vladislav Goldin and Danny Wolf each scored 20 points for Michigan (22-8, 14-5), which has lost three of their past four home games, falling out of first place in the conference.
Michigan State (15-3) has a 1 1/2-game lead with two games left in the regular season.
Mississippi 78, No. 4 Tennessee 76: Jaemyn Brakefield scored all 19 of his points in the final 11 minutes, including a tiebreaking layup with 7 seconds remaining that lifted the host Rebels (21-9, 10-7 Southeastern Conference). Jordan Gainey had 17 points for Tennessee (24-6, 11-6).
No. 5 Florida 99, No. 7 Alabama 94: Alex Condon had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Walter Clayton Jr. had 22 points and eight assists for the visiting Gators (26-4, 13-4 SEC). Mark Sears had 30 points, six rebounds and five assists for Alabama (23-7, 12-5).
No. 9 Texas Tech 91, Colorado 75: JT Toppin had 30 points and 14 rebounds as the host Red Raiders (23-7, 14-5) clinched a double-bye into the quarterfinal round of next week’s Big 12 Tournament. Bangot Dak and Sebastian Rancik each scored 12 points for Colorado (11-19, 2-17).
No. 11 Clemson 78, Boston College 69: Jaeden Zackery scored 21 points against his former team and made a key 3-pointer after a 16-point lead was cut to two for the visiting Tigers (25-5, 17-2 ACC). Jayden Hastings scored 18 for Boston College (12-18, 4-15).
