An Orland Park restaurant sustained extensive damage from a fire early Wednesday, according to the Orland Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded just before 1 a.m. to a 911 report of a fire at Don’s Hot Dogs, 7245 W. 151st St., and were able to bring the fire under control within an hour, the district said in a news release.

It was determined the fire began in the rear of the building, and the cause is under investigation.

In 1977, Donald Habich opened a franchise of Jr.’s Hot Dogs in Oak Forest, and three years later opened a second store in Orland Park, according to a May 2016 Daily Southtown obituary for Habich.

In 1998, the eateries became known as Don’s Hot Dogs and in 2000 Habich sold the business to his son, Joel.
