Cal Raleigh broke Johnny Bench’s record for home runs by a catcher before the All-Star break, hitting his major league-leading 28th and 29th in the Seattle Mariners’ 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday at Wrigley Field.

Raleigh broke a tie in the seventh with No. 29 to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bench’s 1970 mark.

Mitch Garver also homered twice and drove in five runs, putting it away with a three-run shot in the ninth.

Raleigh hit his go-ahead drive to the back of the left-field bleachers off Caleb Thielbar (2-2). Raleigh sent his first homer just over the basket in the first off Matthew Boyd.

Phillies 10, Mets 2: Bryson Stott hit a bases-clearing triple in a six-run seventh inning and host Philadelphia surged past the slumping New York Mets into first place in the NL East.

Nick Castellanos homered for the Phillies, who posted their eighth win in their last nine games.

Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil homered for New York, which has lost seven straight.

Rangers 6, Pirates 2: Jacob deGrom struck out seven in six innings, Corey Seager hit his first homer since May 10 and Texas won at Pittsburgh.

DeGrom (7-2) retired the first 11 batters and allowed two runs and five hits in six innings with one walk.

Texas’ Adolis Garcia had three hits — including a double and his ninth homer — and two RBIs.

Marlins 6, Braves 2: Agustín Ramírez hit a three-run homer, Janson Junk pitched five effective innings and Miami defeated visiting Atlanta.

Ramírez made it 4-1 in the third with a drive off Braves starter Didier Fuentes (0-1) that went 436 feet to left, giving the rookie catcher a team-leading 11 home runs on the season.

Junk (2-0) allowed five hits, one run and struck out five in his first Marlins start.

White Sox 7, Blue Jays 1: Luis Robert Jr. hit a two-run homer and Josh Rohas had a two-run double in a four-run third and Chicago beat host Toronto to end an eight-game losing streak.

Suspensions: San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount Friday for intentionally hitting Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a pitch during the NL West rivals’ contentious meeting Thursday night.

Padres manager Mike Shildt and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also received one-game suspensions and undisclosed fines for their roles in the brouhaha that occurred in both halves of the ninth inning during the Padres’ 5-3 victory at Dodger Stadium.

Both managers were ejected in the top of the ninth after they ran onto the field and bumped into each other during a vociferous argument.

Shildt believed Dodgers reliever Jack Little intentionally hit Fernando Tatís Jr. in the right hand with a pitch, igniting the latest bench-clearing incident.

In the bottom of the ninth, Ohtani was hit on the back of his right shoulder by Suarez’s pitch, putting the tying run on base during the Dodgers’ three-run rally. Ohtani’s teammates appeared to be preparing to storm the field for the second time before Ohtani waved them back.
