Trump on wildfires in L.A. County

This article about Trump inauguration comments on wildfires in SoCal are pretty much what he has been saying all along, namely Gov. Gavin Newsom’s bad water policies and incompetence are to blame.

What I find more interesting is what Newsom said after the inauguration about getting help from Trump and the Federal government. Excerpts: “this moment underscores the critical need for partnership, a shared commitment to facts, and mutual respect ... (and Trump’s) mobilization of the full weight of the federal government to help our fellow Americans recover and rebuild.” And: ”my administration stands ready to work with the Trump-Vance administration to deliver solutions.” This from the same governor who called a special session of the California Legislature to “Trump-proof” California against new executive orders and federal mandates. He’s like the little kid who won’t let you ride his new bike on Monday and then on Wednesday asks you to help him fix his flat tire.

Trump’s speech

Re “Trump will under-deliver on inauguration speech promises” (Jan. 21):

On Tuesday your columnist Rafael Perez used bizarre descriptions to make his argument. For example: “professional God-screamer” and “cosplaying a Zoot Suit rioter” when commenting on Pastor Lorenzo Sewell and Melania Trump. If the role of the Opinion section of the newspaper is to be informative why not publish a serious discussion and not one that frequently overstates with useless adjectives diminishing any attempt to be helpful and non-prejudicial. The Sunday Opinion section delivers articles by some excellent journalists providing focus; I am thankful for them.

Trump’s inauguration

So Trump is our president now, thank you very much. With that clownish buffoon to run against (Panama, Greenland, Gulf of America), it was the Democrats’ election to lose, and lose they did.

The woke, DEI, transgender in-your-face mess that is the Democratic Party now left no one for moderate Democrats and intelligent Republicans to vote for. The so-called progressives deserve this four-year punishment, but the rest of us in the country have to suffer, too.
