Anthony Edwards had 36 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 116-99 road win over the New York Knicks on Friday night.

Edwards made eight 3-pointers and reserve Naz Reid was 6 for 6 behind the arc as the Timberwolves matched their season best with 22 3-pointers in 40 attempts (55%). Reid finished with 23 points and eight rebounds.

Julius Randle had just eight points but added seven rebounds and six assists during his first game in New York since being traded along with Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota in October for Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns missed his second straight game with a sprained right thumb.

Jalen Brunson scored 26 points for the Knicks, who lost for the sixth time in nine games.

CELTICS 121, MAGIC 94 >> Jayson Tatum scored 30 points and Boston ran past visiting Orlando.

With freshman star Cooper Flagg and his Duke teammates looking on from the stands, Tatum, a former Blue Devils standout, went 12 of 21 from the floor to help Boston break out of a recent shooting slump. No. 3 Duke plays at Boston College today.

Boston shot 61% in the first half and took a 12-point lead into halftime. The Celtics shot 53% on the night, including 46% from 3-point range, and led by 27 in the second half. Kristaps Porzingis finished with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Jaylen Brown added 20.

Cole Anthony led Orlando with 23 points.

BUTLER RETURNS >> Jimmy Butler got introduced to the Miami Heat crowd for the first time in two weeks Friday night.

Not everyone seemed thrilled.

It was a mixed reaction — some cheers and definitely some boos, the latter of which is unusual for the home team to be hearing during pregame introductions — for Butler’s return to the Heat lineup after a seven-game suspension. He played against the Denver Nuggets as planned, missed a jumper on Miami’s first possession, then got his first basket of the night on a dunk with 8:09 left in the opening quarter.

EMBIID SIDELINED AGAIN >> Joel Embiid again has swelling in his left knee and will miss the Philadelphia 76ers’ upcoming three-game road trip, the latest injury setback for the All-Star center who has played in only 13 games this season.

Embiid had been sidelined for the last six games with a sprained left foot. The 76ers said Friday that he had recovered from the foot injury but experienced knee swelling after a workout Thursday. After consulting with team medical staff and outside doctors, Embiid will receive additional treatment and be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days.

Embiid has missed 26 games this season. The Sixers are 7-6 with Embiid and 8-18 without him.

The 76ers have been ravaged by injuries this season and the All-Star trio of Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey have played only 10 games together this season (7-3).

MORANT SITS OUT >> Ja Morant was sidelined for the Memphis-San Antonio game on Friday night because of a sore right foot, and the Grizzlies guard became ineligible for the NBA’s postseason awards after missing his 18th game of the season.

The NBA requires players to participate in 65 games for selection to the All-NBA teams, MVP and other awards. Morant can only play in a maximum of 64 games after sitting Friday.
