Angelia Hall, the woman accused of spitting on a Loveland Police Department officer while in protective custody in 2023, has had the case stemming from the incident dismissed and sealed.
The case against 61-year-old Hall — in which she was charged third-degree assault of a first responder, a class 1 misdemeanor — came before 8th Judicial District Court Judge Joshua Lehman in Fort Collins on Friday morning where it was dismissed and sealed, according to a representative from the 8th Judicial District Attorney’s office.
The 8th Judicial District Court was unable to provide the motion for this dismissal as the case has since been officially sealed.Hall was taken into protective custody by LPD officers on May 20, 2023 after she was found “wandering in and out of traffic and speaking incoherently” in the area of North Garfield Avenue and East 29th Street, according to reports. Body-worn camera footage showed Hall trying to kick former officer Russell Maranto as well as spitting on him and a nurse while she was in custody at Medical Center of the Rockies.
The video also showed Maranto striking Hall in the face, for which he was charged with third-degree assault; he was acquitted of this charge following a jury trial last August after testimony that his single strike was an attempt to “redirect her”
While this case has been dismissed, Hall still has three other ongoing cases, two of which are expected to go to trial in late March: in one case she is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and in the other she is charged with third-degree assault resulting in injury. A two-day trial is scheduled for both misdemeanor charges to begin March 25.
She also faces another case involving accusations of assaulting a peace officer, among other charges, from November of 2023. Hall was scheduled to appear for this case on Tuesday but failed to appear. Her next appearance is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 25.
