Maintenance work in central Denver at a Regional Transportation District light rail crossing along Kalamath Street will force a six-day street closure and traffic detour starting Monday.

This disruption announced in a Thursday release follows a summer of detours and closures downtown as RTD contractors reconstructed rails, a deferred maintenance project that encompassed four major intersections.

During the Kalamath Street closure between N. Speer Boulevard and W. Colfax Avenue, construction contractors “will stabilize the rail base and make repairs to asphalt,” RTD officials said.

By Sept. 29, officials said, light rail service will resume in the Downtown Loop and D and H line trains no longer will detour to Denver Union Station.
