The city of Woodland recently released a video celebrating Latino and Hispanic Heritage featuring prominent members of the community.

The video begins with Rudy Peniche, owner of Las Brasas, located at 537 Main St., saying he’s been at the same location for nearly nine years.

“We are happy to have chosen this city to start our business and we are happy to participate in various events like Dinner on Main and the Yolo Growers Farm Workers Festival, in which we celebrate the hard work of the people and hard effort of the farmers,” Peniche highlighted in Spanish.

He continued by saying, “for us, it is an honor as a Hispanic-Latino business to belong here.”

“This is a great Hispanic community and we are proud to be a part of it.”

Mayor Victoria Fernandez is also featured in the video speaking about the opportunities the city has provided for her family and so many others.

“For those who were farm workers like how my parents were in this community, they had a dream that this town would acknowledge their hard work,” Fernandez emphasized in Spanish. “Community festivals give us the opportunity to celebrate our cultures, our languages and customs from our ancestors.”
