Unless Mother Nature cancels this week’s action, starting Tuesday Northern California soccer teams and their fans should prepare to play and watch soccer in some wet weather.

Boys Soccer

No soccer team will be as busy as the Red Bluff Spartans (5-4) this week. Red Bluff has three home games as they look to rebound from last week’s 5-0 loss to Pleasant Valley in their Eastern Athletic League opener. They open the week against Shasta (4-3) Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The Spartans then will step out of league play to take on Las Plumas when kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Thursday and return to league play against Chico (8-1-1) on Friday night at 6. The Panthers will host 2-3 Enterprise on Wednesday night.

Pleasant Valley (8-3) travels to play at Foothill (3-3) in a Wednesday night contest but returns home Friday night against Enterprise.

The Panthers have won four straight games.

On Tuesday, the 2-5 Los Molinos Bulldogs travel to play unbeaten Live Oak (7-0-2) in Sacramento Valley League play at 3:15 p.m.

On Thursday the Bulldogs are traveling to Willows to take on the HonkersGirls Soccer

The Red Bluff soccer team will be on the road Wednesday night to take on the 6-3 Shasta Wolves. The Spartans (0-5-1) are coming off a 4-0 loss last Friday to Pleasant Valley.

Red Bluff finishes out the week at the Chico High Panthers (6-1-1), who play at Enterprise at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pleasant Valley (11—1-1) hosts 8-3 Foothill on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Vikings who have recorded a section high 58 goals on the year are led by freshman Lily Thurman who is 4th in the state with goals by a freshman with 20.

Friday PV travels north to take on Enterprise at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the 0-5-1 Los Molinos travels to play Live Oak (7-3) in Sacramento Valley League play at 3:15 p.m. The Lions have scored 57 goals on the year.

On Thursday the Bulldogs are traveling to Willows to take on the Honkers.

Boys basketball

The Red Bluff High School boys basketball team (6-11) will open its Eastern Athletic League home schedule on Tuesday night against Shasta High School.

On Thursday night, the Spartans will then host Chico at 7:30 p.m.

Corning High School (5-10) will open its Butte View League season on Tuesday night at home against Oroville. The Tigers are also 5-10.

On Friday night Corning travels to play Gridley. Both of those games will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers will close out their week at home Friday night at home against Orland.

The Los Molinos boys basketball team opens Mid Valley League season.on Wednesday against Williams at home at 7 p.m.

On Friday, the 1-14 Bulldogs will host Core Butte out of Chico, starting at 7 p.m.

The 15-3 Pleasant Valley High Vikings will be going on the road Tuesday night at Foothill. The Vikings are home Thursday night against Enterprise, with tip-off for that game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Chico High (12-4) will open the week by hosting Enterprise on Tuesday night before ending the week in Red Bluff.

Las Plumas (10-8) opens its league season in Gridley on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. And the Thunderbirds will host Orland on Friday night.

It will be a busy week for the league-leading Durham High School, which has three Sacramento Valley League games this week. The Trojans, 6-10, host Live Oak on Monday, travel to Pierce on Wednesday, and play at Paradise High School on Friday night. All games will tip off at 7 p.m.

Paradise, 5-7, opens the week in Pierce at 7 p.m. and then meets Durham.

Girls basketball

Red Bluff High School will open its Eastern Athletic League schedule on Tuesday night in Redding against Shasta High School. It will be the second game against the Wolves in three days as the teams squared off on Saturday in the West Valley High School New Year’s basketball tournament. The 6-9 Spartans opened that tournament last Thursday with a 54-48 loss to Lassen.

On Friday night, the Spartans travel to Chico to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Corning High School (0-12) which is played in the same tournament as Red Bluff, will open its Butte View League season on Wednesday night in Oroville against the Tigers.

On Friday night they will return home to play Gridley. Both of those games will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers will close out their week at home Friday night in Orland.

Los Molinos lost to Hamilton 55-37 on Friday night and will close out its pre-league schedule on Monday night at Anderson, starting at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs, 2-9, will turn around Tuesday night and open its Mid Valley League season against Williams at home, starting at 6 p.m. On Friday, they play host to Core Butte out of Chico starting at 6 p.m.

Pleasant Valley High School opens its EAL schedule Tuesday night at home against Foothill. The 14-3 Vikings close out the week at Enterprise in Redding, with tip-off for that game scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Before Chico High (15-2) ends the week against the Spartans, it will travel to Enterprise on Tuesday night.
