Forte, the 2-year-old champion whose 190 points led the Derby qualifying trail, drew the No. 15 post at 3-1 odds on Monday for the $3 million premier race for 3-year-olds. He brings in a five-race winning streak and has won six of seven starts including last month’s Florida Derby won by a length over Mage, who will start from the No. 8 post at 15-1 odds.
Stablemate Tapit Trice is the 5-1 second choice after drawing the No. 5 post on Monday, with Cox’s Angel of Empire (154 points) the 8-1 third choice after drawing the No. 14 post.
Wet Paint will lead Friday’s $1.25 million Oaks from the No. 7 post at 5-2 odds. One of three fillies trained by Louisville-born Cox among 14 entrants for the 1 1/8th mile race, she has won all three starts this year and enters with consecutive Grade 3 stakes wins in the Fantasy and Honeybee respectively at Oaklawn Park.
Stablemate Botanical is the 4-1 second choice from the No. 6 post with trainer Norm Casse’s Southlawn the 8-1 third choice from the No. 4 post.
Post time for the Derby is 3:57 p.m. on Saturday. The Oaks goes off Friday at 2:51 p.m.

Truex wins NASCAR race at Dover for 3rd time on a Monday >> Martin Truex Jr. mastered the Monster Mile on a Monday for the third time in his career and the former NASCAR champion snapped a 54-race winless streak overall in the Cup Series at Dover Motor Speedway.
Thanks to a race postponed a day because of rain, it was a long weekend sweep for the Truex brothers. Younger brother Ryan Truex won the second-tier Xfinity Series race on Saturday for his first NASCAR victory across all three national series in 188 career starts.
Truex held strong on the outside lane Monday off the final restart to hold off runner-up Ross Chastain by a half-second. Ryan Blaney, William Byron and Denny Hamlin completed the top five.

Phillies slugger Harper expected to return to lineup Tuesday >> Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday, 160 days after undergoing Tommy John Surgery on his right elbow.
The two-time National League MVP indicated on Instagram that an appointment with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday went well and that he was cleared to return.
The return would complete a stunning recovery for Harper. The Phillies said when Harper had surgery on Nov. 23 that he was expected to return around the All-Star break in mid-July.

LEICESTER CITY 2, EVERTON 2 >> Leicester and Everton remained in serious relegation danger in the English Premier League after their thrilling draw.
Alex Iwobi’s 54th-minute volley secured a point for Everton, which stayed in next-to-last place with four matches left to play as the team bids to extend its 69-year stay in the top division.
Leicester, the league champion only seven years ago, moved out of the bottom three but only on goal difference ahead of Leeds and Nottingham Forest, with all three teams a point clear of Everton.

Texas college ballplayer stable after struck by stray bullet >> A baseball player for a small college in Texas was in stable condition after he was struck by a stray bullet during a game over the weekend.
Matthew DeLaney, who was not in uniform for Texas A&M-Texarkana, was standing near the bullpen and batting cages near the southwest corner of George Dobson Field on Sunday when he was hit by a bullet fired from an adjacent neighborhood, police said.
DeLaney, 18, of Princeton, Texas, was struck in the chest and taken to a Texarkana hospital, where he remained in intensive care.
The game between Texas A&M-Texarkana and Houston-Victoria was called off after the shooting, which occurred during the fifth inning.

Broncos pick up Jerry Jeudy’s fifth-year option >> The Denver Broncos are picking up wide receiver Jerry Jeudy’s fifth-year option, which carries a price tag of just under $13 million in 2024, according to a person familiar with the decision.
Jeudy hasn’t lived up to the team’s lofty expectations as the 15th overall draft pick in 2020 but he came on strong down the stretch last season when he was finally highlighted in Denver’s offense.
Over the final six games, Jeudy caught 37 passes for 523 yards and three touchdowns at the flanker position.
Bills sign Murray to 1-year deal >> The Buffalo Bills signed running back Latavius Murray to a one-year contract, adding a veteran and productive presence to their relatively young and thin backfield.
The 33-year-old Murray has nine seasons of NFL experience and combined for 760 yards and six touchdowns split between Denver and New Orleans last year. He is the league’s active leader in scoring at least four touchdowns rushing in eight consecutive seasons.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Murray is a noted downhill runner who can add a physical dimension to the Bills’ rushing attack. He joins a running back position that was down to three players -- James Cook, Nyheim Hines and free-agent addition Damien Harris -- and lost returning starter Devin Singletary to free agency in March.

Flames fire head coach Sutter after disappointing season >> The Calgary Flames fired head coach Darryl Sutter, the latest major change at the NHL club after a disappointing season.
The Flames missed the playoffs this season after posting a 38-27-17 record.
Sutter’s departure comes two weeks after former Flames general manager Brad Treliving turned down a contract extension and parted ways with the team.
