Controlled burn slated at Hall Ranch

Boulder County Fire Management is conducting a slash pile burn through Sunday at Hall Ranch southwest of Lyons, according to a press release.

The slash pile burning was planned to take place between Wednesday and Sunday, the release said. There are no planned closures of the trails or property. The project will only happen if there are no air pollution advisories each day and if there is sufficient snow cover to ensure safe fire operations and containment, according to the release.

Officials warned that heavy smoke and flames may be visible for up to 72 hours after a controlled burn and asked residents to not call 911 as a controlled burn is not an emergency.

The area will be monitored to ensure fires are completely extinguished. To learn more about prescribed burns, visit boco.org/PrescribedBurns. To ask questions about a prescribed burn in the Boulder County area, contact bcforestry@bouldercounty.gov.

Towns seek volunteers to help on snow removal

Lafayette residents can lend each other a helping snow shovel during the winter season with the Snow Angels program.

Residents can volunteer to help shovel snow off a neighbor’s sidewalk, walkway and driveway for those who might not be able to do it themselves.

Information on volunteering or requesting help is at lafayetteco.gov/2619/Snow-Removal.

Superior has a similar program, Snow Busters. Information is at superiorcolorado.gov/departments/parks-recreation-open-space/volunteers.
