Born on April 28, 1942, in Ames, Iowa, Andy grew up in Rocky Ford, Colorado, where his family owned and operated Hollar Seeds.

He loved animals and the outdoors from an early age, an interest that would continue throughout his life.

After high school, Andy earned a Civil Engineering degree from CSU and served as a Naval Officer in the Vietnam War, stationed in Naples, Italy where his son Eric was born.

After the war, as the Director of Public Works in Boulder, he played a pivotal role in developing the renowned Pearl Street Mall and permitting the first BolderBoulder race in 1979.

Andy spent his later career as the CFO of Hollar Seeds in Rocky Ford while raising his daughter, Kelly. He retired in 2015. Among his many creative hobbies, he also ser ved as President of the U.S. Practical Shooting Association. Andy married Jill in 2009.

Together, they enjoyed traveling and watching Jill's grandchildren play and grow.

Despite fighting ataxia in his later years, Andy lived life to the fullest.

His caretaker, Jeanette, ensured his last few weeks included a trip to his favorite restaurant and dressing up "just because." Laughter, birdwatching, and spending time with Jill and family at their cabin in Cuchara brought him much joy right up to the end. His laughter, spark, and creativity will be greatly missed.
