October 9, 1951 - September 3, 2023
Resident of Cupertino
After a multi-year battle with triple-negative metastatic breast cancer, Christine Wright-Ott passed away peacefully at home on September 3rd, 2023, with her loving family by her side.
Christine’s empathy, kind-heartedness, and warmth touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.
Always one to put others before herself, Christine was a passionate occupational therapist who patented and licensed multiple inventions throughout a 40-year career.
Christine courageously chose to keep her diagnosis private, receiving weekly treatments while continuing to present at conferences, perform consultations, and author occupational therapy content.
The KidWalk, Christine’s main co-invention, was the first of its kind in 2006 and remains one of the most popular self-directed mobility walkers on the market today.
Thanks to Christine’s profound innovations, children with severe physical impairments around the world have the ability to navigate their environments independently and experience life on their own terms – something Christine routinely said is paramount.
Christine leaves behind her husband Randy, and children Katelyn and Kevin. A private service will be held.
Christine consulted for many years at The Bridge School, a private school for preschool and elementary students with cortical vision impairment, complex speech, and physical needs. A donation to the Bridge School general fund, in honor of Christine, can be made here: https://www.bridgeschool.org/donate
