U.S. falls to Switzerland 4-0 for first 4-game losing streak since 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. >> The U.S. gave up four goals in the first half and looked unprepared for next year’s World Cup, getting routed by Switzerland 4-0 in a friendly on Tuesday as the Americans lost their fourth straight game for the first time since 2007.

Fans at Geodis Park booed loudly as the U.S. gave up four goals by the 40th minute for the first time since Nov. 9, 1980, at Mexico and the first time ever at home. The match was played one year and one day before the 2026 World Cup starts.

MEXICO CITY>> The Mexican national soccer team will change hotels in Los Angeles ahead of their Gold Cup match against the Dominican Republic on Saturday because of safety concerns amid the protests against immigration raids in the city, a team spokesman said Tuesday.

Lee Corso’s final ‘College GameDay’ show will be Aug. 30 at Ohio State

BRISTOL, Conn. >> Lee Corso’s final headgear pick on “College GameDay” will be on the campus where it all started.

ESPN’s iconic show will begin its 39th season at Ohio State before the defending national champion Buckeyes host the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 30.

Corso, who turns 90 in August, announced earlier this year that his final show would be on the opening week of the season.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. >> Josh Allen’s broad grin was familiar. The wedding band on the quarterback’s ring finger was brand new.

As much as Allen hoped to talk about the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, the newlywed couldn’t escape questions about his headline-grabbing marriage to actor/singer Hailee Steinfeld in Southern California on May 31.

“We’re back to football,” he said, before pointing to his ring finger. “Got some hardware now. So, good to go.”

Steelers’ Rodgers off dating market after recent marriage

PITTSBURGH>> Aaron Rodgers added another ring to his collection before he even signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The four-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion said Tuesday after his first practice with the Steelers that he got married “a couple months ago.”

Rodgers was spotted wearing a ring on his left ring finger in a photo the Steelers shared after he signed a one-year contract.

Canadiens defenseman Hutson wins Calder Trophy

NEW YORK>> Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson won the 2024-25 Calder Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year. Hutson led rookies in scoring with six goals and 60 assists. Hutson was the first-place selection on 165 of the 191 ballots cast by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Calgary goalie Dustin Wolf was second. San Jose’s Macklin Celebrini was third.
