The San Rafael High boys soccer team won its third consecutive game to qualify for next week’s MCAL playoffs following a 1-0 victory against Marin Catholic in a play-in game on Saturday night. Daniel Rodas scored the goal for San Rafael (7-10-3), which secured the sixth and final playoff spot with the result.

The Bulldogs picked up wins against San Marin and Terra Linda earlier in the week to force the play-in. San Rafael hits the road to take on third-seeded Terra Linda in Monday’s first-round game.

No. 5 Branson travels to face No. 4 Tam at 3 p.m. in Mill Valley in the other first-round matchup.

Girls soccer

Jaela Brown scored once and had three assists to lead San Rafael to a 5-0 win against Kelseyville on Saturday. JJ Romero scored twice, both assisted by Brown, for the Bulldogs (12-8-0). Ryder Higgins Jones and Arlin Guzman had the other goals and Emely Chacon had the shutout in goal.

Prep basketball

The Bay Counties League West playoff picture should come into focus as the regular season ends on Monday.

The San Domenico boys (7-2) host Lick-Wilmerding at 4 p.m. in a game that was originally scheduled to take place last Tuesday. The winner clinches the top seed in the league playoffs, which starts on Wednesday with all four semifinals hosted by Marin Academy.

The San Domenico girls host Lick-Wilmerding right after the boys game. The winner claims the No. 2 seed but the teams are guaranteed to square off again in Wednesday’s semifinals at Marin Academy. The Wildcats are the fourth seed and will host No. 1 University on Wednesday.

Women’s tennis

Dominican University dominated the singles matches while securing a 5-2 victory against Fresno Pacific University on Saturday.

The Penguins (2-1) got singles wins from Logan Koitka, Sofia Acuña, Maria Gavrilov, Gina Dudley, and Deepalakshmi Vanaraja en route to the victory.
