Robert Arthur Head, 90, husband of Barbara Dean Burton Head, of Salem, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. A native of Michigan, Mr. Head was the son of the late Bernard Head and Fanny Gill Head. Prior to retiring to South Carolina, Bob was an active leader in the Rochester community for over 40 years.

He positively impacted every person he met through his optimism, generosity, passion for life and light hearted spirit. His energy and longevity were a testament to staying active, caring for others, and having a positive outlook. Those who were blessed to keep up with him saw a legend living every moment to its fullest - including daily swims at the fitness center, shooting pool in the local billiards leagues, or playing a round of golf withg the guys. He was a pillar of strength to his family with an infinite supply of love, patience, kindness and understanding - a true inspiration, never taking a moment of life for granted.

His craving for travel and adventure led him to do amazing things such as to complete his 100th sky dive on his 90th birthday, as well as recently being awarded a certificate in North Dakota for visiting all 50 states. His most frequented “happy place” was Nevada to take in a great car race, basketball game and play craps in Las Vegas. The love of life Bob embraced does not stop locally - it reaches across the globe, being that he and his wife of 63 years spent many of their happiest moments visiting over 90 countries. He wrote that Antarctica, Africa, and Costa Rica were some of the most unique and beautiful, adding humbly that bungie jumping over Victoria falls in Africa also presented “quite a view”. His spirituality was rooted in compassion, kindness, humility, and finding the fun wherever it may lead you. His message to all…never forget to “keep smiling”.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Bob is survived by son: Andrew Robert Head (wife Cheer); daughters: Jenny Lee Lanier (husband Russell) and Terry Lynn Duchene (husband Howard); and treasured grandchildren: Carolyn, Tyler, Huck, Hogan, Lynn and Caden. In addition to his parents, Mr. Head was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle: Bessie and Rex Shephard.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Safe Harbor: Seneca, https://www.safeharborsc.org/ donation.
