




Mills softball player Jazzy Maske is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week and Head-Royce baseball player Kaden Choi is the boys athlete of the week for May 5-10.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Maske finished with 45.12% of the vote. Hillsdale softball player Lola Jones took second and Newark Memorial track and field athlete Alice McCarty was third.
In the boys poll, Choi finished with 48.68% of the vote. Runner-up Isaiah San Pedro, a track and field athlete from Newark Memorial, finished at 40.69%. Las Lomas baseball player Jack Foscalina was third.
Maske, a sophomore, had two doubles, two RBIs and scored two runs as Mills routed Sequoia 13-3. In a 14-3 win over Menlo-Atherton, Maske had three hits, three RBIs, four runs scored, a triple and a home run.
Choi, a junior, went 4 for 5 and drove in 10 runs in Head-Royce’s 20-1 win over Redwood Christian. Head-Royce began this week with a 13-5 record.
