Robert James Bramlett born on November 7, 1931, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 6, 2023. He was 91 years old. Born in Oakland CA, Bob graduated from Hayward high school, class of 1949. He served in the Korean war as a cable splicer reaching the rank of sergeant.
Upon returning home he went to work for Pacific Telephone where he met and married Shirley (Wright) Bramlett.
Bob retired at the age of 53 and he and Shirley bought a 20 acre almond ranch in the small town of Rumsey in Yolo County. For 37 years they harvested and sold almonds, hosted 4th of July BBQ's, Thanksgiving feasts and were involved in many local community events such as the annual Almond Festival. Bob held the unofficial title of Mayor of Rumsey for the years he was active in the community.
He also found time to travel to many parts of the world with Shirley and their close friends. Family and friends were THE most important things to him always. He is survived by wife (of 67 years) Shirley, children Steve (Barbara), Rick and Jeff, grandchildren, Jessa, Kathy, Stephanie and Matthew, and great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Alia, Matthew, Saorise, and by his sister Nancy Gibson.
He will be fondly remembered for his love of life and love of family. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 4th at the Rumsey Town Hall at 1:00 pm. A private burial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association.
