I know we can all agree that there are too many guns on the street, too many senseless killings. Then why, oh why, can't we outlaw guns? I know the gun supporters say that hunters need their guns (for killing defenseless animals). It is my opinion that you need a gun if: a) you're in law enforcement, or b) you live in a remote area and have to forage for food for survival. Perhaps the hunters should find a new, less violent hobby? When are our lawmakers going to get a backbone? Outlaw these guns. Period

There's something really wrong with the unbelievable termination of the Dwight D. Eisenhower teacher for attempting to force his student to stand for our country's Pledge of Allegiance. What gutless administrative official in Blue Island made this horrible decision? Way to have your faculty's back. It epitomizes everything wrong with this PC correctness and walking on eggshells mentality. It's a shame and I hope that Mr. Z sues Eisenhower High School and the school district for this despicable firing

Such a big stink, if true, between President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin. Why? As long as the president, through strength and respect, puts “our” interests first, we shouldn't care if he becomes chummy with them. That's a lot better than Russia just laughing at spineless former President Barack Obama's “line in the sand” threats. I'd rather have better relations with them than being a “worldwide laughing stock.”

I just got an email from my state Representative Margo McDermed, which said that the city of Chicago wants the state, a state that is $9 billion in the red to give the city some $200 million to shore up the Chicago teachers pension fund. How about having Chicago teachers pay into their full pension share, which the city in its great wisdom paid for these teachers some contracts back in order for the teachers to accept a lower contract salary. Hey, this is not the rest of the state's taxpayers' problem.

I would just like to comment on the tributes to former Chicago Bulls executive Jerry Krause. Don't wait until a person's death to finally say something nice about a guy. I'm sure the same writers who criticized Krause in the 1990s are praising him today. If you think Krause did such a bad job, just look to Lake Forest, and the Bears organization; they still can't get nothing right.
