Kyle Schwarber hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and Bryce Harper capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the eighth, carrying the host Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.

Schwarber’s shot to right field off reliever José Fermin was his eighth career grand slam and 32nd homer of the season.

Taylor Ward and Jo Adell hit back-to-back home runs for the Angels in the fourth inning for a 3-1 lead that wouldn’t stand after Los Angeles starter Yusei Kikuchi left after five solid innings.

The Phillies ruined what could have been a big inning in the first, when Schwarber and Trea Turner got caught in rundowns and were tagged out on the same grounder by Harper. Nick Castellanos followed that with a two-out, RBI single for a 1-0 lead.

Marlins 3, Royals 1: Otto López hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning and host Miami beat Kansas City.

Xavier Edwards tripled and doubled for the Marlins, who won their fourth straight and are 21-10 since June 13. Miami’s Kyle Stowers doubled and had two walks after hitting five homers in the previous two games.

Reds 5, Mets 2: Jake Fraley matched a career high with three hits and drove in two runs as visiting Cincinnati beat New York.

On a festive afternoon at Citi Field, the Mets honored David Wright by retiring his No. 5 jersey during a pregame ceremony. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead, too, before Fraley doubled and scored on a two-base throwing error by catcher Luis Torrens in the third inning.

Rangers 4, Tigers 1: Kumar Rocker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Rowdy Tellez hit a three-run home run in his second game with the Rangers as host Texas beat slumping Detroit (59-40), which has lost a season-high six in a row.

Rocker (4-4) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only Wenceel Pérez’s two-out single in the sixth that was pulled down the first-base line.

Diamondbacks 10, Cardinals 1: Eugenio Suárez homered twice, Corbin Carroll had two triples and host Arizona cruised to a victory over St. Louis.

Suárez has five multihomer games this season, including a four-homer night April 26. Carroll leads the big leagues with 12 triples.

Suárez, 34, has 33 home runs this season.

Longtime A’s scout Bittiger dies at 63: Jeff Bittiger, a pitcher who played four seasons in the major leagues and spent the past 22 years as a scout in the Athletics organization, died Saturday morning, the A’s announced. He was 63.

The team did not disclose a cause of death.

Bittiger made his major league debut for Philadelphia on Sept. 2, 1986. The 5-foot-10 right-hander went 4-6 with a 4.77 ERA in 33 appearances for the Phillies, Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox.

Nationals sign top pick Willits: Eli Willits didn’t want to waste time before signing his first pro contract. The 17-year-old shortstop is on a tight schedule.

Willits agreed to terms with the Washington Nationals on Saturday, only six days after the club selected him No. 1 overall in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft.
