Laura Peterman 85 Years San Pablo On December 14th, 2024, Laura Ann Peterman (Erzinger) (aged 85) passed away after a long illness, watched over byher loving husband of 55 years, Joe Peterman. Laura was a bright, creative, and loving soul who made the world a more beautiful and joyful place. Born in West Plains, Missouri, Laura was raised as one of7children working the land. Her professional journey lead her to teaching after receiving her degree atUniversity of Missouri at Columbia, starting in a1room school in Wyoming teaching from the 1st through the 4th grades.

Laura was first married in 1961 to Tommy Derrick, moving to California and giving birth to daughter Lynne in 1968. Laura began along and storied career in teaching 2nd graders for the West Contra Costa Unified (1964-1998).

There, she inspired generations of children, instilling her love of gardening, sewing, and the world at large. Students from decades past still wrotetoher until theend of her days.

While attending an encounter group for The Bishops Coffee House in Oakland in 1969, Laura found her lifelong love in the form of a tall Texan named Joe, marrying in 1972 and embracing Joe’s son Russ into the family.

Thus began a whirlwind trip across the globe, spending time working and playing along the Pacific Rim for 9 months. Mike was born in 1976, completing the family.

Despite trials by cancer and fibromyalgia, she continued to be a shining example of compassion, self-care, humor, and hope.

Shecreated ahugenumber of creative projects, supporting good causes with her quilting, crocheting, sewing, and jewelry making. and continued tomaster more and more crafts, even purchasing a fully fledged lapidary shop.

Laura is survived by her husband Joe, her children Mike and Lynne, her step son Russ, and 6grand children.

Laura’s Celebration of Life will be March 1st 10 AM at: Pinole United Methodist Church 2000 San Pablo Ave.
