Police say motorist struck 3 officers

Police arrested a man who they say struck three St. Paul officers with a vehicle Thursday night.

They sustained minor injuries, said Sgt. Toy Vixayvong, a St. Paul police spokesman.

The incident happened about 11:40 p.m. in the area of Como Avenue and Rice Street: Officers stopped a driver for traffic violations. The driver pulled into a parking lot, then drove away and struck the three officers, Vixayvong said. The officers were evaluated at Regions Hospital for cuts and bruises, and released.

The vehicle was found abandoned in the 2300 block of Energy Park Drive. Police located the suspect in the area and took him into custody, Vixayvong said.

He was booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of assault, criminal vehicular operation and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
