The Detroit Lions are re-signing wide receiver Tim Patrick, the team announced Friday morning.
Patrick, after originally joining the Lions in August, posted 394 yards and three touchdowns on 33 catches last season. He fit like a glove at Detroit’s X receiver, serving as a big-bodied complement to other playmakers such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery and Sam LaPorta. Patrick was a strong blocker in the run game, too.
Terms of Patrick’s new deal were not announced by the team, but NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported it’s a “one-year deal worth up to $4 million.”
A reunion seemed to make sense for both sides. The Lions took a chance on Patrick last season, signing the receiver after he had missed the previous two campaigns with a torn ACL (2022) and torn Achilles (2023). Patrick rewarded the Lions with high-effort play, and he appeared to develop a good rapport with quarterback Jared Goff.
Patrick, 31, has 2,403 yards and 15 touchdowns on 176 catches for his career. He went undrafted out of Utah and was a member of the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers (he never made the active roster during the season for either team) before he made a name for himself with the Denver Broncos.
From 2020-21, Patrick had 1,476 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
