Campbell, CA

Ruth passed away onthe evening of Nov. 14, 2024 at 94 years old, surrounded by loved ones.

Ruth was a strong, independent, and generous woman who was always happy. She was a caring mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family and a captivating story teller who enjoyed reminiscing and passing on her life experiences.

Ruth was born in Derbyshire, England and grew up in Church Warsop. As an ambitious young journalist she immigrated to New York. She started her family in Brooklyn and later moved to California, where she fell in love with the city of Campbell. She worked for nearly 30 years as a secretary for the Santa Clara County Executive Office and as the Head of Volunteer Services at Valley Medical Center before retiring at 70.

In retirement, Ruth spent her days zipping around town, taking day trips to the coast, cooking for her family, tending to her flourishing garden and keeping in touch with family and old friends. She loved mystery novels and agood cup of tea. She cherished all of the people in her life and made everyone around her feel special.

Her loved ones will miss her homemade bread, jam tarts, and cheeseball but most of all they will miss her warm charismatic presence that lit up every room.
