Holiday sale benefits state parks and beaches
The Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks group will host its annual ParkStore holiday sale both online and in person during the last weekend of November and first weekend of December to benefit local state parks and beaches.
The online holiday sale will be held Nov. 24-26 at thatsmypark.org/collections.
The in-person holiday sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1-3 at four ParkStore locations:
• Natural Bridges State Beach, 2531 W. Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz.
• Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park 144 School St., Santa Cruz.
• Seacliff State Beach, 201 State Park Drive, Aptos.
• Wilder Ranch State Park, 1401 Coast Road, Santa Cruz.
Friends’ members will receive 30% off on select iconic Michael Schwab park illustrations on apparel and more, plus jewelry made by local artists, maps, nature guides, local history books, educational toys and other gifts that represent the natural and cultural history of the parks. Michael Schwab fine art prints and park passes are not included in the sale.
Nonmembers receive 20% off. Become a member to receive the 30% discount.

Middle school presents ‘Frozen Jr. performances’
San Lorenzo Valley Middle School Theatre presents “Frozen JR.” based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee.
This 75-minute musical is presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 1-2 and 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at the SLV Performing Arts Center, 7105 Highway 9, Felton.
A limited number of tickets will be available to purchase at the door one hour prior to showtime. For advanced tickets, visit hs.slvusd.org.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors, students and SLV staff.

Holiday Helper Program seeks donations
The Family Service Agency and I-You Venture program are seeking donations for the Holiday Helper Program.
The program helps forgotten seniors in care facilities in Santa Cruz County have a special and memorable holiday season. Holiday Helpers is now accepting donations and wrapped gifts and will do so through Dec. 7.
Gifts suggestions include new lap blankets, scarves, slippers, slipper sox, socks, shirts, stuffed animals, lotions, calendars, crossword puzzles, word search, adult coloring books, etc. Please mark wrapped packages for men or for women, with sizes, ready for delivery to the care facility residents. Cash donations are also appreciated and can be made through our website or mailed to Family Service Agency/I-You Venture.
Please drop off all gifts from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1-4, Monday to Thursday, through Dec. 7. For information and drop off locations, call 831-459-8917.

Annual Church holiday boutique slated Nov. 25
Aptos United Methodist Church will host its 10th annual holiday boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 25 at the church, 221 Thunderbird Drive, Aptos

Holiday wine-tasting benefit slated for Nov. 25
The Corralitos Woman’s Club is hosting a holiday wine-tasting benefit event from 2-5 p.m. Nov. 25 at the club, 35 Browns Valley Road, Corralitos.
Local wineries featured include El Vaquero, Windy Oaks, Las Nietas, Delirium, Aptos Vineyard, Deer Park, Sante Arcangeli and more.
Tickets for the event are $45, which includes wine tasting, musical entertainment and appetizers. Holiday boutique items handcrafted by the club members will be offered for sale, and a live auction is featured. Proceeds from the event will benefit foster children and Corralitos Woman’s Club programs.

Event to focus on homelessness
Join co-sponsors 1440 Foundation and the Santa Cruz County Housing for Health Partnership at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the 440 Multiversity campus, 800 Bethany Drive, Scotts Valley for a dinner benefit and panel discussion titled Community Connections: Key to Resolving Homelessness.
Proceeds from the event will benefit nonprofits focused on providing resources and services for those experiencing homelessness in Santa Cruz County and nationally, including the Community Action Board, Housing Matters and Miracle Messages. Library hosts new art exhibit
The Arts in the Library Program at the Scotts Valley Library is now exhibiting “Abstraction and the Figure”, a new show by local artist Anna Haulenbeek Huskey. Twenty-three, mostly oil and cold wax, paintings depict human movement and the female figure. Also included are animals, a band of mother and baby monkeys in Costa Rica and several abstract pieces. There is also a series of dance movement studies inspired by Huskey’s background in dance. One of these was displayed in the 2020 DeYoung open show.
The show will be running until Dec. 28 and can be seen during normal library hours, which are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (5 p.m. on weekends).
