The Gary Police Department is seeking information regarding a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Miller section.

Gary police spokesman Cmdr. Jack Hamady said in a release Wednesday that officers found a severely injured man Tuesday afternoon in the grass off the roadway in the 7000 block of East Dunes Highway. They found him in the course of searching for a 25-year-old man whose family reported him missing after not hearing from him since 8:15 p.m. Monday, Hamady said in the release.

The man, identified by the Lake County coroner’s office as Terryonte Bridgeman, 25, of the 800 block of North County Line Road, was last seen off North County Line Road, the release said. The coroner’s office declared him dead at the scene, according to the release.

Investigators have so far determined that a Hyundai of as-yet-to-be-determined make and model was involved in the crash, Hamady said in the release. Anyone who may know or have seen anything is asked to contact Sgt. Michael Jackson, of the Gary Police Department Traffic Division, at 219-881-1209.
