What a smile, what a lovely laugh and what a wonderful painter, printmaker and illustrator!
Susan was magical!
Susan left us after six months of cancer to paint in heaven. She is so missed by all who encountered her and those who knew her.
Susan's beauty and happiness grew and grew as the years passed by thanks to all of the wonderful friends and artists in her life as well as the deep romance with her adoring husband Roger.
Born Susan Margaret Van Wart in Franklin Lakes New Jersey to Regina and Peter Van Wart. She is survived by her ever loving husband, her brother David, his wonderful wife Mary Beth, nephew Dillon, dearest niece Delia, brother Peter, his wife Janet and nephew Brian. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Susan graduated from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes in 1972, then Ridgewood School of Art.
She joyfully studied art since her mother enrolled her in an oil painting class at the age of twelve and just kept going in so many mediums with pure delight!
Samplings of Susan's talent can be enjoyed at susanopferart.com and seen at pAR Ticulars Art Gallery & Teaching Studio in Lafayette.
Susan was a founding member of the gallery and spent many happy hours there these past 17 years teaching and working with other artist members who became very dear friends. Another absolute joy for her was the weekly Thursday morning's outings with the Plien Air Artists of Colorado of which many more friendships were made. A good life she did have!
